Mice

We have found evidence of mi e and had pest control around. There are poison traps set and do pretty sure we will have them killed in a few days. My fear is them dying somewhere inaccessible and stinking the house out! He said then he supplies a special deodoriser. I’m scared it happens over Xmas. Don’t want to be eating turkey with the smell of dead mouse 🤮

Anyone have experience of this and can suggest anything?

Kill traps are what we’ve used indoors - for this reason.

Frenchdressing · 20/12/2020 14:47

He didn’t suggest them. Not sure why.

You can buy them from places such as B and Q. / garden shops.

Dead mice don't really smell, you shouldn't need anything extra

Merename · 20/12/2020 15:00

You could use humane traps, no living beings would need to die, and no smell.

I'd get a plug in Mouse repeller. They work fantastically well.

Well I’ve paid for the pest control now so don’t fancy going out and buying a whole new load of stuff. Just worried about a potential smell and wondered if there was something I could get for it.

Can you suggest one? Thanks.

Mouse repellers are available from hardware stores.
To remove the smell you either need to find and deal with the body or wait for decomposition to finish, which depending on conditions could be a few days to a fortnight. Air fresheners etc either mask it for a small time or make it smell even more revolting.
Assuming you notice a smell in the first place, you may not as they may die away from the main area of your home.

Thanks. Will have a look for mouse repellers online and pray the mouse don’t die in the house!

Now is the moment to buy the plug-in repeller. It won't get rid of mice you already have but if you can't work out how they got in, their cousins will follow the smell of mouse piss to infest you again. £20 on Amazon well spent and no trouble since!
Unless you're really unlucky, they'll go outside to die.

Scumble · 20/12/2020 16:02

We got mouse repellers from Amazon too. It didn't claim to kill them, but after plugging them in we found a few bodies lying about. It can only be down to the repellers - the little buggers wouldn't touch the poison or even go into the humane traps filled with chocolate.

I got my repeller from Robert Dyas
