Replacing carpet - is it hard to clean a Berber style?

We are replacing the carpets in all the bedrooms. I’ve chosen a Berber style in a neutral heather (sort of a mix of neutrals), which is supposed to be hardwearing and reasonably priced, which is what I wanted.

Someone in another thread said that Berbers were really hard to clean, compared to a twist. Has anyone else found this? I don’t want to make the wrong decision, especially as it will be all of the bedroom carpets that would be poorly chosen.

I like the look and feel of Berbers but my understanding is that you can't use vacuums with rotary brushes on them. I was told that the rotary brushes could pull out a loose thread from the looped pile causing a sort of carpet 'ladder' so you need to use a cylinder type vacuum that relies on suction only. This wouldn't really work in our house because we all have long hair and so really need the rotary brushes of an upright or a powered cylinder head to pick all the hairs.

We've always had heather mix type carpets but we go for something with a cut pile rather than the loops of a Berber.

Oh that is so good to know, thank you. I had no idea. So I couldn’t use the normal brush attachment on our cordless dyson?
