Hello, O wise ones.

I can’t shake the thought that I want one of these. I have a mix of low pile carpets and tile throughout the house. No rugs. No pets. I’ve done extensive stalking of reviews, et cetera, but I’m still none the wiser as to whether they are actually any good. I just can’t bear the constant noticing of tiny specs on my cream carpets (I have 3 teens) and wonder if this would be the answer to my busy prayers or a colossal disappointment.

Does anyone have a robovac? It it any good? Would you recommend someone purchase one or wait for a few years for the tech to improve?

Thanks in advance for helping me to decide whether to part with my hard-earned cash on one... Smile

Eufy Robovacs are a bit of a cult topic on Mumsnet.

Long story short: everyone loves them. They’re great.

napody · 06/12/2020 18:13

Roomba is brilliant, had mine 12 years, needed motor replacing after 10 years- better than ever

ChickensMightFly · 06/12/2020 18:14

I am pondering this, but the recent internet outage which crashed the function of ring doorbells and robot vacuum cleaners in USA made me think I don't want my basic functions to be dependent on dodgy local internet connection. Are there any that don't need an internet connection to know what they're doing?

whatwherewhywhenhow · 06/12/2020 18:24

Love my iRobot Roomba! It’s the best purchase I’ve made. I’m fussy about clean floors and I have lots of floor space so vacuuming manually every day isn’t possible from a time perspective. Not I just set it off as I’m leaving (you can obviously program it to go at a certain time too or you can set it to detect when everyone has left home).

I do sometimes have internet issues which is annoying but given it’s used every day if I have to skip one day a fortnight or so it’s not a big deal.

Everyone should have one!

Now my next decision is whether to get the mop....

SenorFrog · 06/12/2020 18:24

I have a Eufy, it still works without internet, I do have it set on a schedule but I can still just hit the button in the top and off it tootles. Thoroughly recommended.

stillfeelingmad · 06/12/2020 18:25

We have a Bagotte one and LOVE it

napody · 06/12/2020 18:27

My roomba doesnt need internet....dont know if you can still buy older models?

Crazydogmumma · 06/12/2020 18:28

I bought a Eufy after reading the threads on here- had it for 2 months now and would not be without it. It is programmed to clean every morning and a couple of times a week I take it upstairs to do clean. I love having clean floors every day with no effort from me!

Aposterhasnoname · 06/12/2020 18:31

I got a cheap lefant on prime day and I can’t believe how good it is. I didn’t expect it to pick up as well as it does, I haven’t used the main vac since I bought it.

It’s on a timer to go out every morning, then by the time I get home it’s fully recharged and I put it upstairs. I can’t tell you how great it is to come home to clean floors every day.

ButterMeUpScotty · 06/12/2020 18:32

I have a Eufy and it doesn’t need internet. He is my best friend and I love him. Right now I would trade one of my children (the one who won’t eat his dinner!) for a Eufy if I didn’t already have one! He’s so good at sucking things and knows when he is tired and goes back to bed.

ChocAuVin · 08/12/2020 10:39

Oh no — I was kind of hoping to be told don’t do it! I’ll wait until January and pray for a Eufy sale Smile

"Enablers" hehehehe. - getting influenced while lurking over here too. These ladies should be on commission. Grin

Q: I have a stone flag floor which isn't perfectly smooth (wrinkles in the stone surface) would the robot vacs cope OK with that?

blackcat86 · 08/12/2020 11:25

Do it op, you won't regret it. I got lovely and very reasonably priced eufy from amazon and its fantastic. I often set it to work whilst I'm out or doing something else

Yes, no problem at all.
FrightClub · 08/12/2020 11:46

I've got a Eufy and don't even bother to programme it - I just set it off in the morning. It's not going to cut swathes of spotlessness around your house like lawnmower stripes, but we have dogs and it's perfect for keeping the general detritus at a low hum during the week.

Grittlelayrabbit · 08/12/2020 11:49

My mum, an obsessive cleaner with exacting standards, got a Roomba from Aldi, for £150 and it’s excellent. Lifts the pile, sucks up all sorts, and doesn’t need an interbobble but will run on the app if you like.

CoisFarraige · 08/12/2020 12:13

I've a Eufy 30C so on the cheaper end of robovacs. It quietly pooters about, every day in my tiled & wooden floored kitchen/living area/utility. The joy! Best Mumsnet inspired purchase ever!
It's not perfect. It is inefficient - randomly zigzagging around but somehow it gets there in the end. And I don't have to do it so I don't care how long it takes. I trap it in various rooms but mostly it works in the kitchen/living area/utility. If you are super fussy, you might be annoyed by little bits left in corners but it makes up for that by going under sofas and beds! All balances out. I will NEVER be without one again. If only they would invent something to clean bathrooms for you!

I just use eufy remote control.
Thatwentbadly · 08/12/2020 12:19

I have the efuy 30 too. I have mixture of carpets, laminate, nice wooden floors and rugs. I also have a toddler, a messy 4 year old, a cat and I shed loads of hair. I love eufy- she is my favourite family member. I wish she could manage stairs. She doesn’t do corners but I always press her edging button first and then set her off on her random pattern.

FrightClub · 08/12/2020 12:21

I've got so fond of my Eufy that I can't bear to see her go into Limp Mode as she tries to find her charging station when she's run out of power. She gets carried back, poor thing, she's deserved it.

MuthaFunka61 · 08/12/2020 12:27

I've a robovac s5 (vac and mop) and chose this after watching many YT comparison videos, plus random vaccing'd drive me nuts!

I've a black lab and I'm constantly surprised that he's not bald with the amount of hair that's picked up.
Definitely recommended.

RunningFromInsanity · 08/12/2020 12:50

I’m not that enamoured with mine.
Robot vacuum - 30mins/1hour programme. Normal vacuum - literally 5mins to run around.

I have rugs down so I can’t just let it automatically clean overnight etc, I have to move the rugs.
I also have dogs and kids so toys on the floor that have to be moved.
By the time I’ve done that, I might as well get the hoover out and do it myself!

alpinia · 08/12/2020 13:31

We've got Rory the Rooma and his mopping friend Billy Braava. Honestly they are both so much better than I ever expected. We've replaced the battery on the Roomba and he's got a whole new lease of life! We have hard floors and rugs and he cleans both very well. Even when I have vacuumed with the cordless one the day before he still picks up a ridiculous amount. Plus he cleans under the sofa.

He doesn't connect to the internet, just has a little battery powered block that helps direct him.
