Is there such a thing as an over sink clothes dryer?

Does anyone have any suggestions of how to hang clothes over the sink after you have rinsed them? They tend to drip if I put them on the proper airer and I don’t want to ruin things by wringing too much . Atm I am using an upturned bucket! I’ve seen over bath airers but not over sink. Thanks!

Do you not have a washing machine? You could give them a short spin in there before hanging

ElspethFlashman · 28/11/2020 10:34

IKEA used to have shelves that were metal racks that were for over sinks.

I think they're discontinued? But it may give you inspiration. I'll see if I can find the name and you can Google the pic, I don't think I can post pics on here on this browser.

Found it, it was the GRUNDTAL shelf.

StrippedFridge · 28/11/2020 10:35

I put a towel on the floor under the airer.

ElspethFlashman · 28/11/2020 10:37

Actually still seems to be available? I think?

GreyishDays · 28/11/2020 10:38

A clean over tray?

NancysDream · 28/11/2020 10:39

You can buy airers for over the bath or in the bath. Not seen them for sinks though. Honestly, I would be concerned the spin on my washing machine wasn't working properly. With hand washing try drying off the excess with a towel. I've never had clothes drip, if they came out that wet I would put them on an extra spin

If you are meaning hand wash stuff like cashmere jumpers, I used to roll mine in a towel, then roll the towel out so the jumper was flat, then put it on the airer. (Note the singular - life's too short!)

Thank you for all your responses. It’s not stuff from the washing machine. It’s children’s stuff like waterproof outdoor trousers, plastic painting aprons. sometimes they just need a rinse to get the mud/paint off and I want to be able to let them drop dry without getting the floor wet.

Thanks for the suggestion but we have new tiles all round so I’m not keen on drilling in to them.

I have an Ikea Gundtal. I use it for recycling tubs and having utensils off. Would work really well for hanging dripping clothes off actually.
You could add 1m of washing line and peg small things up.

megletthesecond · 28/11/2020 12:40

Ah. Could you use command strip hooks and tie washing line between them?

mrsfeatherbottom · 28/11/2020 12:44

We have an old curtain pole that we balance on top of the shower and hang things on hangers off that. Would that work?

jomaIone · 28/11/2020 12:52

I just drape stuff like that over the side of the bath, or outside. Dries enough not to be dripping then bring it in and put on radiator

Knittedfairies · 28/11/2020 13:05

Could you stand a small airer on the floor on a shoe tray to catch the drips?

I think we are going to fashion something like this, thank you.

Could you put an airer over your bath or in your shower (temporarily)?

GreyishDays · 28/11/2020 15:06

Oh I just drape things like that over the shower hose or the shower screen.
