Melted plastic help

Hi,

So we've not long since moved into a house with nice, clean, white painted bathroom walls. I stupidly put a pack of cotton wool on top of the radiator, and when I moved it a day or so later, part of the label had melted onto the wall, leaving a large blue mark. I've been trying to find solutions online but most tips are for plastic that has melted onto a hob. I guess not many people are stupid enough to manage to melt plastic onto a wall 😞

Does anyone have any suggestions for removing it please?

Can you hear with a hairdryer and scrape away?

Post this in housekeeping, they are really helpful in there

No pressure but I was told there might be some useful advice in this section Grin

Am I going to have to move house again?

Sorry cat, they are usually really knowledgeable on here

If it’s just the colour, maybe rub very gently with one of those magic eraser pads? But if it’s actual plastic melted to the wall, I guess the paint will chip off with the plastic. I would probably have to repaint, but I’d get rid of the colour first so it doesn’t bleed through.

Is it actual melted plastic or colour transfer from the plastic?

pastabest · 29/11/2020 12:18

If it's just colour transfer then nail varnish remover usually works. Sounds like you already have cotton wool pads to use it with Grin

Thank you all. Maybe it is just colour actually - it's very flat if that makes sense...I'll try all of the suggestions!

This worked! And it doesn't need to be repainted. Thanks very much!
