Get rid of bug infestation without vacuuming?

We have some sort of bug infestation as I've found bugs in different parts of the house. I need to vaccum and clean the house top to bottom to eliminate these critters. Its a big job doing detailed hoovering under and inside furniture, cupboards etc. DH is working from home and is on calls all day and says I can't hoover while hes working. By the time he finishes, dinner gets made and were washed up then its too late to do much hoovering as we have neighbors through the wall.

I will do what I can at the weekend but I also know it will be a struggle to get it done and that DH will not like the disruption and noise on his days off.

He isn't too worried about a few bugs but Ive lived in infested homes in the past and I know you ignore even minor problems at your peril as they can explode and be very hard to remove, they can damage your property and it can get very expensive. I want it dealt with asap.

We're in lockdown so I can't even send him out for the as he has nowhere else to go.

How do I get rid without hoovering up the bugs and eggs?

So he isn’t even going to help you?! Tell him to go out then. Until then, and if you don’t have pets/kids to worry about, get some raid. I usually get the blue one, it kills anything. I’ve even used it on holiday when we were stuck somewhere with bedbugs. We weren’t bitten after the first night.

Firstly I would get a decent bug spray as above. Identify them and make sure you use a suitable one. We get Indorex from the vet when it's fleas.

Secondly can you not come up with a suitable timeshare solution? If there are any rooms that you can shut 2 doors between, then you should be able to work in one while he is in the other. If not do you have a car you can park close enough to the wifi for him to work in for a couple of hours?

I have rugdoctored while my husband was WFH. It's a lot louder than most vacuums. We just co-ordinated so I did the landing and stairs in an hour when he didn't have calls, and he moved downstairs while I was upstairs. Honestly unless you live in a studio, I think your husband is being rather selfish. A headset helps and maybe an earplug in his free ear

Maybe he could vacuum when he's finished work. It would do him good to get up and moving.

And seriously, dh is fine about household noises so long as he's not on calls to clients. It's not like the office was quiet in the olden days.

And this?
"DH will not like the disruption and noise on his days off."

Tough shit. His home need maintaining and if he can't deal with that then he's an arsehole.

stealthninjamummy · 17/11/2020 16:31

Could you try a steamer? They’re quieter than a hoover and could help you kill the bugs which you could hoover later.

DianaT1969 · 17/11/2020 16:33

Doesn't he have a lunch hour? Tell him to take a walk each day for lunch.

MrsMoastyToasty · 17/11/2020 16:38

Wait until he finishes work. Hoover around with DH to help with moving furniture. Order takeaway as a reward.

Sorry, you lost me at DH will not like the disruption and noise on his days off

TheTeenageYears · 17/11/2020 18:44

errrr, as is often said on MN you have a DH problem! Who leaves bugs to fester in their home because they don't want to be disturbed by the noise of a hoover on their days off?? Unless there is a medical condition which would mean vacuuming would be a problem for DH then he is massively unreasonable.

vanillandhoney · 17/11/2020 22:18

I'd vacuum regardless and tell him to quit his pathetic whining, tbh.

I'm sorry OP but he sounds ridiculous.
