Long-term clothes storage

I have some precious baby clothes that I want to keep for my daughters for when they are grown-up - we're talking years' of storage needed as they are still small. We don't have much spare storage capacity in the house so I am thinking loft ideally. Is there any way they could be stored there?

Vacuum bags?

Whatsnewpussyhat · 14/11/2020 15:45

However you store them make sure they are properly washed and dried first.

In the loft?

Nenanena · 14/11/2020 20:47

@Whatsnewpussyhat Good point

Yes in the loft... How about large plastic boxes, the kind you might store toys in?

That would be fine

Thanks!

you might want to put rice in the box to absorb every trace of damp

Would a few days in the airing cupboard do? (So long as nothing that was actually slightly damp was in there?). I'm thinking clothes in a plastic box with a tight lid wrapped in several bin liners? And possibly some rice Grin

@Nenanena The advice for wedding dress storage is to use breathable materials and to avoid storing them in the loft. Presumably the same would be true for other precious clothing items?
