Does anyone have a really good electric shower they can recommend?

We need to install an electric shower and I am bit worried about waht to choose. Our family home had one and it used to take forever to wash my hair as it was so pathetic!
I have looked at the MIRA website and there are some nice looking ones on there in chrome/glass but I have no idea how good they are or what the wattage means in terms of how fast the water flows. Our plumber not too helpful either
Any suggestions/recommendations very gratefully received.
TIA

aqualisa - you can get them with an pump included if necessary. Actually not sure they are fully electric or use hot water supply

well mine is but then I have a combi-boiler and therefore the cold water comes through at mains pressure and I don't need a pump.

I love it.

aqualisa too - I've just had my bathroom done with one and I don't have a combi boiler or a pump and its the best shower ever!

Thanks, will check them out. Has anyone got a good Mira shower, I really like the look of some of them...

another vote for aqualisa - much better than mira for electric showers. My parents have mira showers and they are pathetic trickles compared to my aqualisa.

OOOh I was thinking of starting just the same thread. I prefer a mixer shower cos they look nicer but I don't think our hot water pressure off the combi boiler will be any use for that. So it's electric for us too.

I thought the thing to look for was the voltage (or is it watts, sorry aven't time to check properly) in that some are 10.5, which is supposed to be good as opposed to the 7.5 or 8.5 ones.

???

And I did read that you can't have a pump with a combi boiler.

Also prefer a mixer shower but we need an electric shower, at least for a while. Mira now do showers with 10 watts or so so was hoping these would be ok, the Aqualisa ones dont look as good. Oh well...

Update on "What I Have Learned about Showers" by PeachesMcLean

A 10.5 watt shower needs additional electical cabling and electrical checks, over and above that needed for lower wattages. This can be costly.

My concern for a mixer shower was the low pressure from the hot water from the combi boiler. However, as we've just discovered, a little bit of hot water with a strong cold water flow produces a perfectly adequate shower. In fact, it's going to be rather good!

Hope that's of some use to somebody

Got yours sorted yet Pannacotta?

Thanks v much Peaches.
I also found out about the complicated 10.5 watt cabling for an electric shower, which put me off. We have decided on a mixer shower too after all, had some good advice in a local bathroom showroom, and are going for an Aqualisa I think.
