Hi Has anyone got any tips on how to get rid of the black mould on the rubber seal in the washing machine. Thanks

I’ve got the same problem with mine. Not sure what to use to try and clean it.
Watching thread with interest!

Also watching. In the past I think a boil wash with soda crystals did the job but it was a while ago.

Leaving it open to dry out after use definitely helps prevent mould build up but my toddler puts conkers in there given half a chance and I’ve already pulled one out of a wash this week which snuck its way in there despite my watchfulness.

Try with a damp cloth first. Then get a washing mashine cleaning product (HomeBargain used to do one - not sure if they still do). Read the packet but most of them are ok to use on the seal as well.

Astonish mould and Mildew blaster, dry the seal throughly and then spray on and leave for a couple of hours then wipe clean.

From what I've read, Whilst it is possible to kill the mould spores and to remove the "mould", the staining is a permanent stain to the rubber and the only way to completely remove is to change the seal.

However as @Babs1937 says - Would suggest trying the astonish mould and mildew remover it is exceptional stuff and I've had great results with it on anything I've tried it on but I have never needed to try it on the washing machine seal.

Maybe dry and spray the seal, then line with cotton will and spray again to soak, and leave for a few hours.

White vinegar. Spray, leave and wipe.
A washing repair person told me it was accelerated when using the capsules. I’ve gone back to liquid washing detergent (in a cup thrown in with the wash) and I don’t get the build up anymore.

Wipe with a cloth and white vinegar. And use on any mould in the drawer. Occasional bio powder use helps too.
