Old mouldy limescale-y bathrooms HELP

Sorry for the boring and probably done to death topic!

We have just purchased our first house, and unfortunately can't afford to replace bathrooms at this point. There's 3, 2 of which are white tiles with white grout which is really yellow and black in places and generally discoloured.
It's also in a very hard water area (not UK) só the taps are covered in thick white matter and limescale and the toilets too.

What are the best products to clean grout and remove thick limescale from stainless steel taps?

For the toilet Harpic 100% limescale remover. Viakal is very good at removing limescale in the bathroom

Thank you-is that the black harpic bottle? I'm not in the UK but there is a British supermarket here I can get some products!

Soap filled pads of wire wool - more elbow grease needed but way more effective than viakal (which is good just not as good). Steam cleaner with a focused jet can work too round hard to reach bits like taps.

If there is mould, go round with bleach afterwards to kill off spores. (Do NOT let bleach and viakal mix though)

Get a steam cleaner with a decent nozzle - VAX do one for about £50 which is perfectly adequate. It effectively chisels off the limescale leaving sparkly clean tiles and bath, and is especially good round taps.

It use to be in the black bottle but now it's blue with 3 white x's on it.

You can get limescale off taps with 2p coins. I don't know how it works but it does. I see that you're not in the UK so don't know how easy it would be to get hold on some. The other thing you can do is soak cotton wool in vinegar and smoosh it on to the tap overnight (put some cling film/a bag over it). The limescale should just rub off in the morning.

Thank you for all these will be giving them all a try!

Ive seen that I can get a hold of HG mould and mildew remover here (at eye wateringly high prices Confused) would any recommend this for discoloured/black grout in between the tiles? Both on bathroom wall and the floor.

Thanks again and sorry for the boring questions Grin

Cotton wool soaked in bleach and pressed onto the grout removes the mould, need to leave it for an hour (or as long as possible). Could use masking tape to hold in place if necessary. Kilrock and a stanley/craft knife for removing lumps of limescale on taps etc. The kilrock dissolves the limescale and the knife helps to chip off the stubborn bits.

Hg mold remover very very good very very potent smell as well.

For black mould thick bleach is the only way I’m afraid - soaking cotton wool balls or just toilet paper in it works well. Leave it on for a few hours. I’m fighting a never ending war against limescale too. Use white vinegar and citric acid (the powder kind - you can buy big tubs of online). Make a paste and leave overnight on the thickest bits of limescale. Then steam jet is great too. The vinegar/CA combo is non-toxic and more environmentally friendly than your cilit bang or whatever but I still recommend gloves and windows open. Good luck!

Absolutely the best stuff ever for removing black mould. It is eye watering in chemical smell too, smells very strongly of bleach so ventilate the area well.

I did 3 applications. You leave it for 30 minutes a time, rinsed, dried and repeated. I used the foam stuff but it turns to liquid pretty fast so be aware it drips.

I have done the whole bleach with cotton wool stuff and it takes a long time, HG was incredible.

For taps etc I use Viakal limescale remover. It is good too.

Coming on to say thick bleach is the only way to remove mould from grout. I squirt it on thickly at the top of the tiles, let it run down and use a toothbrush to get it in between the gaps. Leave overnight for best effect. Rinse the next day.
