I have a polti vapertto, possibly an older model as mines white and green.

It's fantastic for quickly defrosting the freezer, fluffing up the carpet when we've moved furniture and blasting ground in blu tac out of the carpet. As you might guess from that list though, I don't use it that much for cleaning.

It comes out for deep cleaning tasks like blasting out dust from behind the radiators, steaming DHs luggage after trips (bedbugs are a big issue in a lot of the places he travels) and gets lots of use steaming round the sink and loo if anyone has a bug.

Day to day I'm less keen, it sort of moves the grease around the hob, so while the hob end up nice I then have to clean down the tiles in the whole area. You have to be super careful round paintwork or silicone sealant as it's really easy to damage them with a jet of steam.

It does a decent job of mopping hard floors, but I'm short and find the handle section to short to use comfortably.

thanks, I ordered one so will see how it goes but good tips. Mainly looking to use now and again for deep clean and grout on tiled floor which used to be a lovely cream colour.
Did you by any chance use it on mattresses or sofas. I know the sofa the children have in their gaming room takes a battering and could certainly do with a deep clean.

I liked the idea of it being smaller than more expensive models which I could see hardly getting used at all. Fingers crossed.

has anyone used it on oak floors?

I have used it on a mattress, tried doing it regularly as DS has excema and we thought maybe dust mites might be making things worse, didn't seem to make much difference to just hoovering it so stopped bothering.

It does make things quite wet, so you need to wipe up afterwards or make sure there's a good window to get it dry before bedtime.

Haven't used it on real wood flooring though.

What I really want is a cross between the lift off bit of my carpet cleaner, which sucks the dirty water back out of things, and the steam cleaner.

As it stands I only have the patience to get out one or the other and the carpet cleaner usually wins.

It’s great for cleaning gloss painted doors. Blast with steam and wipe with a tea towel. Gentle blasts on painted walls and wipe over. After cleaning my oven with Oven Bright I always steam to get rid of any residue. Fantastic to get in the grooves of upvc windows and also steaming the panes and wiping over. No smears. Grouting on tiles, inside the dishwasher, the seal does harbour lots of yucky stuff. A couple of times a year I steam the laminate floor in the lounge. I also use it occasionally on the textile furniture and rugs.

So, not every day use but certainly a very handy aid to lots of jobs.

I don't recommend steaming soft furnishings or mattresses OP as they stay wet. I use Shark Lift Away vacuum to vacuum the mattress. It's beyond amazing when it comes to getting the fodder out of your mattress! To clean fabric sofa's use Stardrops in hot water, a quite rough cleaning cloth & rub away. When fully dry just vacuum it
