Advice wanted .... which do I buy ?
I'm a mum with 2 kids and I don't have the time or energy to research all the zillion products out there.
Ideally priced between £200-£300, if that's possible.
Thanks !

I’ve got a 10kg Beko one. It dries well.

WellTidy · 25/10/2020 17:14

We have a Bosch condenser dryer. It was about £350 from currys and I would imagine that it would have been cheaper from somewhere like ao, so it could come within tryout budget. I love it. I’ve had it for 10 years or so and it is used almost daily, sometimes multiple times a day. The handle on the door has broken once, but DH bought a replacement handle and a tool to fit it online, and it was an easy job. He isn’t an enormously practical sort, so it must have been fairly straightforward. Nothing else has ever gone wrong on it, and it’s had heavy use.

Atalune · 25/10/2020 17:15

We have a Bosch. It’s great, would highly recommend.

Prufrocks · 25/10/2020 17:16

Ooh I’m watching with interest.

My Whirlpool dryer died a noisy and painful death recently.

NamedyChangedy · 25/10/2020 17:37

No recommendations but I can tell you NOT to buy the one I have - it's the Candy Grand O'Vita 10kg model and the water collects in a case that cracks and leaks every month or so. Worst design ever.

itsureis · 25/10/2020 18:48

Thank you !!
I've been looking at the Bosch ones actually so it's good to see they are recommended.
I think it had 10 different programs but I'd probably only use 1 but nice to have I suppose 🙂

Can't go wrong with a Bosch !

OnTheBenchOfDoom · 25/10/2020 23:03

Check how long they take to dry.

Mine is a B rated 9kg Beko for about £270. It is a sensor condenser so turns off when it detects the washing is dry, there are several dryness settings.

Takes under 1 hour to dry pretty much every load. The higher rated AAA ones can take longer so find out before you commit.

However, your washing machine spin speed will dictate a lot too. I had a 1200 spin thought that was good then it died and I bought a 1400 spin, clothes dry much faster.

I've got a Candy and never had an issue with it!

Ginfordinner · 25/10/2020 23:06

Snother vote for Bosch

Guiltypleasures001 · 25/10/2020 23:10

Ive got a Candy and it's shite, the drums rusty inside
I've never known anything like it, it over heats doesn't start or just stops

Im seriously thinking of going back to having the hose out of the window
It takes hours to dry clothes sometimes

BrieAndChilli · 25/10/2020 23:13

We have a beko one and the main feature is that the tray that collects the water is at the top - basically where the powder dispenser is on a washing machine. Means you don’t have to bend down and fiddle with the flap at the bottom to empty the tray etc like lots I’ve seen. So easy to pull out, empty and slot back in. You can also plumb it in so you don’t have to empty it but we will do that when we move house

oldbagface · 25/10/2020 23:17

Another vote for Beko. IME they last a lot longer than expensive fancy ones.

Twotabbycats · 25/10/2020 23:59

I have a Candy now that is ok for a cheap one. It has a lot of supposed sensor cycles that stop after 15 mins while everything is still soaking AngryThe Candy was a store replacement for an Indesit that died shortly after the guarantee ran out (2 years). I'd reported a fault while still under guarantee, it was fixed but the engineer acknowledged that the frame supporting the drum was worn. Sure enough 3 weeks later it gave up. So I recommend Indesit even less than Candy! I had a vented Bosch that came with the house and lasted 16 years... would love to be able to afford a new one!

JamMakingWannaBe · 26/10/2020 09:33

Beko owner here too. From AO.

paap1975 · 26/10/2020 09:39

Very happy with our Bosch

itsureis · 27/10/2020 17:30

I splashed the cash a little and bought a Bosch .... I'll be eating beans till Christmas so I hope it was worth it !!
Now I just have to figure out how to work it 😬
Thanks everyone x

You won't regret it I had my first Bosch and it lasted 15 years love it - enjoy 😉

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 28/10/2020 17:43

We have a Bosch condenser dryer - whatever the cheapest model was when we bought it. It’s been going strong for almost 5 years now with no problems (and it’s run multiple times a day in winter so has seen plenty of use!)

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 28/10/2020 17:43

Have just seen you bought the Bosch - good choice!
