Dusty blinds

This may the the most boring thread ever but here goes...

Is there anything I can do to stop the blinds in our bedroom from filling up with dust? No matter what I do they are covered in dust and look filthy within days. I hoover then then polish them ALL the time. Housework is not my thing so high maintenance blinds do not please me! They are a dark brown wood effect laminate type material.

I wait in hope of a miracle solution.

Does the dust brush off easily, not stuck on at all? Then there's nothing more you can do.

If it does stick, try changing up your polish to something super slippery.

It brushes away easy, I could write notes in it after just a few days! It's like it pulls all the dust from the air towards them. Rest of house isn't dusty just these blinds. I'd bin but they are fabulous at blocking out the sunshine.

Get light coloured blinds. Dark blinds always look dusty.

I've considered replacing but the window is huge and they'd close a fortune to replace. It would be a complete waste too because they're fine in every way except the dust. Always so dusty!

Honestly I'm tempted to switch to net curtains as the dust on blinds kills me Hmm I found polishing creates static electricity which attracts more dust, so every so often I take mind off, hang over the washing line and I how's them off. It's a real hassle but keeps them cleaner for longer.

@cheesybeans1234 if you are able to fit blinds yourself or can hire in a handyperson (local facebook for recommendations) then stick your blind measurements in www.blinds-2go.co.uk/ and have a look at their prices.

I have used them for over a decade for roller, roman, wooden venetians etc. Their sample service is great so you can see the fabric. I swear I do not work for them, I am a SAHM and I like blinds!

As the blinds are in the bedroom it’s probably because there is a lot of dust In the room give the room and complete deep clean , if you have fitted wardrobes empty them out on bed, hoover out the whole wardrobe, if not fitted but free standing do the same but move the wardrobes and don’t forget to hoover underneath and on top, then move all the Chester drawers and hoover under then, clean all the skirting boards, hoover under the bed , wash pillows and duvet and mattress cover. Hoover the mattress on both sides . This is a massive job but will hopefully cut down the amount of dust in the bedroom. I know it might sound mad but also exfoliate your own skin in the shower and get your dh to do the same it helps. Dust in the bedroom is mostly made up of dead skin!! I do this big deep clean twice a year when I swap from winter quilt to summer and back again. I’m always amazed at the amount of dust That builds up In six months even thow I change sheets every week and hoover and dust twice a week.
