Help stainless steel cooker hob damage

I was trying to be eco friendly and was cleaning the cooker hood with a salt and vinegar mixture, and some of it dripped onto the stainless steel cooker hob. I had no idea it could cause damage. Hopefully the photos have worked, but it's kind of pitted through the surface not a stain. Is there anything that can restore it? Really appreciate any ideas, I'm renting so this is a disaster!

Have you tried peek or similar??? I poured toilet limescale stuff in my stainless steel kitchen sink thinking it was bleach and it looked similar to your hob, as though it had stripped the top layer off. I used peek a few times and maintain with wd40 spray (?!) and it doesn’t look good as new but just looks well worn now as opposed to damaged.
Good luck!

Thanks that's a great idea I've never heard of peek before but after a google I can see it looks like it might work I will give it a try.

Hi. If you are still trying, try putting some baby oil on and rubbing off with a dry cloth. I have done that and it works great on stainless steel.
