Seriously limescaled up, what can I do?

I cleaned my fridge yesterday, it's one of those with an ice/water dispenser thingy, but the grooved tray thing at the bottom of where the ice comes out is seriously encrusted with limescale.

What can I use to get it off? Because it's grooved it's very difficult to scrub, so something I could soak it in and it magically disappear [hopeful emoticon] would be marvellous.

Any help much appreciated!

Oh I did mine last week

I soaked it overnight in 50/50 vinegar and water

I think the move to Scotland may not quite be justified. Buying a new fridge would be cheaper...

It's cos i used to live dan sarf and have moved to Scotland 10 years ago.

Having no fur anywhere at all is a real bonus. All the rubbish you have to go through with kettles and stuff is a pain.

Was a bit shocked the first time i ran a bath though - as the water wasn't completely clear as i was used to.

Of course - the shit weather kinda spoils the lack of limescale really......

Kitchen paper soaked in vinegar. Lay it on top and leave it for a good while.

ant acid will so, so any vinegar will do.

Malt vinegar smells a bit, so if you want to be posh you could go for white wine vinegar

Or balsamic!

Plain old sarsons will do the trick.

And to shift the wiff afterwards, a little bicarbonate of soda in a pot!

Yup, vinegar. Works like magic. Be v v careful of using it on anything plated though. Can remove the covering (as I found out to my cost with our old plug...)

Sorry, yes, plastic is fine. Metal is fine too. It's plated stuff which I - and others- have found out to my cost doesn't like vingegar. Thank goodness it was only a plug and not a tap!
