Best mop for a tumbled floor?

We have a terracotta (I guess) tumbled floor. What is the best mop to clean its uneven surface? All the little 'holes' stay dirty after mopping with a traditional cloth-fingers-type mop. Short of cleaning it on my hands and knees with a brush I can't find anything that works. Any ideas?

Have you tried a steam mop with a coral head? You can buy coral mop heads for most types of steam mop on eBay or places like Wilko and The Range, eg www.therange.co.uk/household/cleaning/brushes-mops-and-buckets/mops/h2o-mop-x5-coral-cloths/

I haven't. Would that extract the dirt from the little holes? Because that's the issue - getting that to come out.

I scrub my floor with a scrubbing brush every few weeks and then use kitchen roll to wipe the dirty water away (that’s the important bit).
I love my steam mop, but I think it just cleans the dirt.

@EvilPea I think that you're doing the only possible thing to clean this type of floor. A scrubbing brush and elbow grease. Once a year we have a professional company come in and clean it and re-seal it but that's hundreds of pounds :-(

We inherited a tumbled floor and it’s impossible to clean properly. We did have it professionally done before the new kitchen was installed, but even then all I could see were the tiny cracks and dips waiting to be filled up with dirt. I’ve tried a hard floor cleaner, a steamer, a swifter-type mop which the pro guy recommended - which doesn’t leave puddles but neither does it really shift the surface dirt. When I can’t stand it any longer I use the old mop and bucket, and I have a grout brush to scrub the edges and the worst of the grout muck. Sorry not helpful.

Today I tried a scrubbing deck brush and it was an improvement. But it's such hard work. Like using a scrubbing brush but while standing rather than on your hands and knees. Maybe we should just have it filled!

Has anyone tried the karcher washer thing?
It doesn’t scrub but I’m sure I read it dries as well. So taking the dirty water out?

The only thing that works is spraying elbow grease liquid on and then using a scrubbing brush ..
Then using a mop.

I have bought a scrubbing brush (with a long handle, like a normal mop) with really stiff bristles. I 'flood' the floor with water and detergent and scrub away. Then I rinse and dry. It's working better than other stuff I've tried but it's HARD work!
