Water from condenser tumble dryer

What do you do with the water from your condenser tumbler dryer? I have tried using it in my iron but it has fluffy bits in so I'm worried about blocking it up. It seems a waste to pour it down the sink.

Water the garden with it

SkiingIsHeaven · 04/10/2020 08:16

House plants

If you want to use it in your iron you could put a paper coffee filter set inside a sieve.

I used to do that but then I realised that I was creating paper waste to save water waste and to be honest I had no idea which was better or worse.

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/10/2020 08:25

Plumb it in if you can.

Garden. The birds will make nests with the fluffy bits . Ahhhh.

@Fluffycloudland77

Plumb it in if you can.
People normally have condenser driers because they can't plumb in a conventional drier. We have one because it can't go against an outside wall. I empty it onto the garden.

My plants, especially venus fly traps and sundew who dont like tap water.

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/10/2020 08:45

I had a condenser because I didn’t want a whacking great hole in the wall.

I drilled a hole into the side of the cupboard & attached the hose to the utility room sink.

Adding to the chorus - I pour it on my plants which are just outside the laundry door.

PrayingandHoping · 04/10/2020 08:47

Keep it in a bucket to wash dogs feet and legs off after a walk

caughtalightsneeze · 04/10/2020 08:51

When I last bought a tumble dryer there were very few non condenser dryers for sale. I thought they had been phased out ? I don't think you can attach a hose to my tumble dryer, the whole design is that the water collects in the front of the door of the dryer.

mama3bears · 04/10/2020 08:57

I strain the water through a clean cloth or teatowel into a jug then use it in the iron.

PrayingandHoping · 04/10/2020 08:58

I have a new heat pump tumble dryer which acts as a condenser or there is also the option to plumb it in. So yes they are still on the market

AlwaysLatte · 04/10/2020 09:09

We had that drawer thing but my husband plumbed it in so it goes down the drain now.

Ifailed · 04/10/2020 09:14

Just remember that the water will contain residue chemicals from the wash, especially if you use a conditioner. I wouldn't use it on vegetables.

oldmapie · 04/10/2020 10:05

ifailed beat me too it! I use on non-edible plants, hardy plants. I don't use it on anything we'll eat or anything delicate.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I might try straining it to use in the iron. 😀
