Does normal disinfectant kill mystery germs?

I just let someone come and clean their bleeding hand in my kitchen after there was a car accident outside my house and he's bled a bit here and there. Would normal Dettol anti-bacterial surface cleanser kill off all the potential diseases he may have had? He was Polish and didn't seem to understand me saying "Don't bleed on my floor".

think it kills 99%of all known germs or is that domestos im thinking of?detol should do it and maybe some boiling water

That's a good idea, I might do that too. I need to go and clean up outside too before the DDs go out in the morning.

He was ok really, just a cut hand and a bad case of the shakes. The car's a mess though, I'm surprised he walked away from it.

That was kind of you, dare I say it but I would probably bet the bleach out to be on the safe side!

Btu most blood borne nasties are viruses not bacteria.

Not sure about Detol and viruses.

Also most people don't realise that to properly disenfect (as opposed to just clean) you should ideally leave to soak in disenfectant for a minumum of 5mins

Dunno if you can get Polish germ killer, i.e. killer of Polish germs. You could try some pledge polish

MoosMa · 08/10/2007 21:57

I don't want to promise him anything!
