Have really long window in family room made up of 4 tall, thin casement windows. Too wide for curtains. They are an awkward size, 74 cm wide. Searched everywhere and the standard size is 60cm or 80cm. If I bought some (cheap)80cm wide ones do you think I could take 3cms off each side without destroying them?

Had some beautiful blinds made for our bedroom last year but soooo expensive and they will be trashed as familyroom = playroom. So I don't want to spend too much.

I am hovering over the cofirm oredr button now - will hang on a bit longer incase anyone tells me it's very tricky and won't work.

No I wouldn't

The pulley mechanism may be attached on the sides

Wondered how you got on YP - I remember your thread from a few weeks ago.

I have had another thought, rather than get four seperate blinds that hang in the recess I might try getting two wide ones that hang on the wall above the recess.

It's such a silly window, pretty to look at but impossible to dress it.

I might just get some cheap fabric and have a go myself.

I made a roman blind for DS1's bedroom once but I was still pg with him and had days on end all to myself

Are they all in a row? Could you just get one big one to cover all of them?

Also is there a particular reason you need blinds in this room? Could you make a false blind just to dress the window?

They are all in a row, total length is just under 3 metres so too long for one single blind.

I wanted blinds because it would need two very long curtains and they would take up too much room when opened. There is also a large sash, french doors and a tall skinny window in the room. The curtains for the french doors would meet the curtains for the long window in a corner and get in the way.

They need to close as I want the room to feel cosier for the winter.

Aiming to move TV etc in there and keep the sitting room less cluttered.

Found one already, looks promising as can be cut to any length. Thanks for the idea YP

It would be much easier making one than trying to alter one. I have managed to make a couple and I am really not very good at sewing.
