Can't catch last baby mouse!!!! HELP!!

Caught four 3 babies one was a larger one. Didn't see many droppings after this, all were caught on kitchen work top. Since catching the four have been seeing 2-3 droppings small ones so it appears its a baby mouse left behind. It's not coming in glue traps or snap traps. snap traps baited with peanut butter or cracker dipped in peanut butter or a piece of chapati.

Should I resort to poison and put poison in all of the cupboards? I don't have bait station so is it safe to put it indoors without bait stations?

thanks

I wouldn’t put poison down. When we did that the mouse died under the floorboards and rotted there, stinking the place out and attracting flies. Luckily my dad was very practical and was able to take up the floor boards and dispose of it. If it happened to me now my DH and I would be useless. We’d probably have to move.

Make sure there are no crumbs or food waste lying around to tempt the mouse in. Make sure everything in the cupboards is in packaging it can’t chew through. If there’s nothing available for it to eat it will go elsewhere rather than starve. Also persist with the snap traps until you have a good couple of weeks dropping free.

thank you for your comment. I'll keep the traps down. With the snap traps do you think the bait should be replaced every two to three days?

Glue traps are so awful. Can you get the electric ones or a humane trap instead? Alternately. Put peppermint oil on cotton balls wherever you have seen evidence and then seal up Ann cracks and creatives.

okay will take a look at some of these traps thanks

caught one in the humane trap and released in a bushy area near food and water in local park. Do you think they actually survive?

Also in total 5 mice have been caught, after that droppings on two days then nothing. the dog food was not in a sealed container so there was smell of dog food near kitchen, so got an airtight container for that. its been few weeks no droppings.

so wondering where the lasr one has gone its a terraced house so possibly gone to neighbours house? i havent sealed gaps yet so could it come back? i leave no food around so should i still seal gaps? thanks

This made me so happy! I have no idea whether they survive, but I think you did not kill it. I think the distinction is meaningful and why not try to do the humane thing? I know plenty of animals eat them too, but there is something about avoidable killing. Plus most traps are very painful if they fail. Thank you for not piling on about the humane traps and I wish you very good luck

And yes you really do need to seal the gaps. I bought something on amazon that is steel wool, which is usually good enough, but it has fiberglass in it too. So far so good!

yes good thinking @blisstwins .

Everyone at home prefered the humane traps because it doesn't kill them. We also had a mouse as a pet, they are just innocent creatures.

I think mouse can climb really well so could find a new home somewhere and there is still a chance they can survive if left near food and water.

Thankyou for the advice I'll look at the steelwool/fibreglass on amazon.
