A quiet washing machine?

I am looking for advice and recommendations about quiet washing machines please.

Our washing machine is in the kitchen and, although the noise doesn't usually bother me, it did become a problem during lockdown when the DC were studying in the kitchen.

The washing machine now seems to be approaching the end of its life and I'm thinking about replacing it with a model that is specifically marketed as quiet. But how quiet are they, in practice? DH and I are still working from home for the foreseeable -
would we be able to participate in a zoom call/video conference while the washing machine was on a spin cycle, or would we likely have to pause the washing machine mid-cycle for the conference call and forget to switch it back on again afterwards ?

Also, if your washing machine has a quiet spin, does this result in less water being extracted so clothes come out damp? Do you find your laundry takes longer to dry?

If you have a genuinely quiet washing machine that also extracts water well, please tell me what make/model you have!

There's an accreditation scheme for quiet appliances called Quiet Mark which might be worth looking at www.quietmark.com/products/awarded-products/quiet-laundry/washing-machines.
I've also found if the fitter that installs the machine takes the time to level up the feet properly it makes a big difference to how noisy washing machines are on their spin cycle, they just seem to rattle about less.

I got a new washing machine last year and was struck on the first wash how much quieter it is than the previous one

Both Bosch but the current one is a quiet mark one, the difference is very noticable.

I have a Bosch Serie 4 (I think), it's very quiet. There's also a thing you can buy to cushion the sound, an anti vibration mat or pad. If the drum is off its thing (sorry have brain fog right now) it will be noisier so it may be an idea to try a few things first to see if you can do anything: a vibration pad, level the machine and check the drum is fitted correctly.

I have a Bosch one (quite old now) and I set it to go at night, it never wakes us even when it's spinning

Mine is this one. Very quiet.

We have a Miele and find it very quiet and the spa. Is very, very effective. .

However if you want to make a genuinely informed choice go to ao.com As well as data like wash times and energy efficiency they include details of the decibel level of both washing and spin with the specifications of most machines.

I’ve also found ao are very good value -they price matched my Miele when I found it cheaper at Costco which saved me £80 and they can deliver and install most machines very promptly.
