Biodegradable baby wipes

I have always loved baby wipes for cleaning. They’re handy for a million little jobs and work amazingly well. I stopped using them for a few years when I realised they had a lot of plastics in them but now even Tesco wipes are biodegradable and 100% plant fibre. Does this mean they genuinely are ok to use again (I have started to do so this year) and can they go in my garden and food waste recycling or still in the black bag? I have microfibre cloths but they’re not great for the environment and I’m just trying to work out what is better.

I make wash cloths out of old clothes and sheets and things. I have a big bag of them and they just go in the washing machine when they’re dirty. I can’t see the need for disposable wipes, plastic sponges and microfibre etc etc. It’s just more pointless junk to spend money on and destroy the environment.

Biodegradable doesn't necessarily mean will biodegrade quickly.

Old baby muslin cloths make a good substitute for wipes and JCloths.
