Kitchen cupboard storage?

I have cupboards full of rubbish: unorganised, stuff tumbling out and just shoved in. I need to sort it out but don't know where to start. Was thinking tubs in the cupboards might work. And I wondered what works for everyone else? I'm getting really sick of all the clutter everywhere. Tia!

Generally, I find tall tubs use the vertical space better - otherwise there's a lot of stacking. Look at what you need to store and buy appropriate sizes bearing in mind the need to stack - all one size is easier but wasteful if all containers only half full.

Before you start, determine to get rid of at least half of what's in the cupboards. That's the way forward.

I know, I need to clear first. Eurgh, such a rubbish task but so needs doing!

I have bought a few tubs from wilko that I use to store things like spices, packets of Biscuits and sweets.

I’d recommend starting with decluttering. how to declutter without making a bigger mess is a slower way to set about it, than the usual pull-it-all-out method. And listening to a podcast helps distract me from the feeling of being overwhelmed or bored.

Don’t buy storage solutions until you actually know what you’re keeping and where you’re keeping it!

I often try out boxes and containers cut out of cereal boxes, or whatever is lying around, before committing to buy. Putting all my spices in a basket seemed obvious, but it drove me bonkers. I had to pull it out every time, and find the right jar, and 70% of the time the jar or the box didn’t make its way back to the cupboard automatically. I found lining them up was worth the extra space to me. Granted, I’m particularly peculiar!

I designated all my kitchen cupboards into zones. A-zone was easiest to reach, B- bending and stretching, C- step stool/on my knees rummaging.
Then I designated all my stuff: A- daily use, B- used weekly/fortnightly, C- occasional use. And matched them up. It’s so obvious it doesn’t merit mentioning, but it wasn’t something that had occurred to me. I also lost weight when I moved the biscuit tin out of the A-zone and into a C-zone!

I've just had a carpenter make extra shelves for my kitchen cupboard and it helps maximise storage so i can fit more and keep it super tidy.

I like the zoning idea.

I use these containers from Lakeland - one for nuts and seeds, one for pasta, another for dried fruit etc. All packets held shut with their soft-close clothes pegs.

I have two more for spices; most small jars have names on the top and if not I label them. Also in roughly alphabetical order which makes it easy to find what I need.

I like organised cupboards Smile

I've enjoyed watching The Home Edit on Netflix, which is all about beautiful storage solutions.
