Drying/ironing 100% cotton school jumper

So my kids school have changed the uniform and the new jumper is very smart but 100% cotton with a no tumble drying icon on the label. Even taking it straight out of the washer and hanging it up, it looks very wrinkly and will probably need ironing.

I'm crap at housework and hate ironing. Any tips on how to avoid ironing the flipping things? Is it worth risking tumbling on a low heat? Is there a special way of hanging them that I'm missing out on?

Thanks! I shall try and work on my smoothing skills. My shaking and smoothing didn't seem to make a difference and I really don't fancy adding these to the school uniform ironing pile - basically the only stuff I do iron!

Low speed spin is the key, then smooth and dry on a hanger. Won’t be perfect but there’ll be no difference to see by the time they get to school

I used to tumble on low for about 20 minutes, THEN hang to dry. It sort of steams the creases out without cooking./shrinking the fabric.

Thank you, I'll try both of those

I iron anything that needs ironing straight from the wash, hang it on the maiden and collect in the morning . Cottons are much easier to iron that way and no last minute ironing. The kids grab it and go upstairs after they've had their breakfast.

When you say you hang it up, how do you hang it?

I would put it on a coat hanger and hand it on my shower rail, the weight of the wet item on a hanger usually helps pull some creases out whereas on a clothes horse/radiator it's eight is usually supported so can't help the crease situation

Or hang over the open door of the washer while the dryer is on.

Ooh winter that still involves ironing though 😁

It is on a coat hanger cos I thought the same, that it would be more likely to magically uncrease itself

If they're like ours they shrink massively. Smooth and hang, the creases sort themselves out after 5 mins of body heat.
