What do you use and how do you clean them. I'm using disposable j cloths, throwing lots away cant be great for the environment.
What do you use?

White Cotton cloths from the supermarket. Wash them regularly.

Findahouse21 · 05/09/2020 14:22

I use the white 'dish cloth' type cloths and then just chuck in the washing machine

MrsMcMuffins · 05/09/2020 14:22

I bought some reusable cloths from amazon. Some are micro fibre but have since learnt these are not good for the environment. I also bought some for the floor but I couldn’t clean them properly and I have gone back to using wipes which I agree are not good for the environmentSad

dementedpixie · 05/09/2020 14:24

I use microfibre cloths and wash them

dementedpixie · 05/09/2020 14:26

I also have some J cloth type ones but they say they are washable so I wash and reuse them

LazyDaisy10 · 05/09/2020 14:30

I was reading that the microfibre ones aren't great for the environment either! Do you chuck in the cloths with all your other washing or do a seperate cloths wash?

I just wash them with whatever is going on that is that colour. Or you could put them in with towels

BlusteryShowers · 05/09/2020 14:32

Micro fibre cloths from Aldi. They come in lots of different colours so I use a certain colour for kitchen/bathroom/toilet/dusting etc.

I've also bought a minky sponge thingy this week for the kitchen which I quite like too.

Cynderella · 05/09/2020 17:58

I have cotton and bamboo cloths that go into the washing machine on hot wash with tea towels etc

Packlunchhell · 05/09/2020 22:19

Microfibre cloths from car aisle in Costco. Use them for everything. Best ones I’ve tried , they are yellow in colour .

TrippinFlippin · 05/09/2020 22:29

I do a separate 60° wash for cloths/tea towels just using neat disinfectant in the drawer.

GiantKitten · 05/09/2020 22:40

Cotton/cellulose “Swedish dishcloths”
They are brilliant. Last for years, can he boilwashed, squeeze practically dry for wiping surfaces down, & when they’re dead can be composted.
I love them Grin
Jangneus is a great site for them and I’ve also bought some from andkeep - theirs aren’t as pretty but they do sell lots of other stuff too.

I use ECloths

I wash them with all the other laundry.

Flowersmakemyday · 05/09/2020 22:50

I cut a load of my old bath towels up into dishcloth sized squares, overlocked the edges and use them. They just go in the washing machine with the towels at 60 degrees

ifellintoarabbithole · 05/09/2020 22:50

I have cut up old ruined t-shirts / baby clothes / dressing gowns and wash them every few uses.

PickAChew · 05/09/2020 22:52

Cotton dish cloths. fullcirclehome.com/products/tidy-1 They scrub well and dry quickly.
Cellulose sponges for wiping surfaces - they're really absorbent and last for months. I chuck them in the washer or dishwasher regularly, depending on whether they're kitchen and bathroom ones 0 I generally demote old kitchen ones to the bathroom, apart from the pink ones. The pink ones are just wrong in the kitchen.
Old tea towels or even t-shirts and underwear for general cleaning. Not dirty ones, of course. If i notice a pair of knickers or a sock has holes in when I'm putting clean laundry away, I'll use it for dusting.

Bargebill19 · 05/09/2020 22:55

Old cotton clothing. - t shirt and pants cut up into largish squares.
Old socks make great polishing cloths for dusty ornaments.
I put them in an old pillowcase and machine wash.

Mylittlepony374 · 05/09/2020 22:56

Old clothes/ towels etc, cut up. Then wash after use.

woodhill · 05/09/2020 23:01

Cotton cloths from M&S with blue stitching, great for bathroom.

Ineedadentist · 06/09/2020 13:11

I also love the Jangneus ones that GiantKitten uses.

Liddell · 06/09/2020 13:38

I use a traditional white cotton dish cloth for the sink, I soak it overnight in a bleach solution.

I use two aquapurs cloths for the bathroom and use face clothes from Home Bargains (29 p each) to dry off the sink etc with.

All go in the washing machine when I'm doing a load.

QueenPaws · 06/09/2020 13:53

Old flannels. Recently replaced all my face flannels so all the old ones are being used as cleaning cloths

TreestumpsAndTrampolines · 06/09/2020 13:59

This is what we have had for years too (I think I've only ever bought one bundle - and there's still a few new ones in a bag under the sink). I keep them whole for the kitchen, but for some uses I've cut them in quarters. Just bung them in the wash (Although I did find they leeched yellow the first couple of times, so mind your tea-towels!)

SummerSummerSummertime · 06/09/2020 14:09

Cut up old towels. Wash in machine.
