I have the Curver laundry’s basket and it’s in the utility room. If dirty washing doesn’t get put in it then it doesn’t get done.

Laundry bags on the back of each of the bedroom doors. Game changer for me as don't have to sort through washing all the time.

Bagelsandbrie · 01/09/2020 07:58

We have a cupboard in the kitchen which is very tall (basically two cupboards on top of each other without a divider in the middle) and we stuck the two doors together so they open as one, we stuck a plastic laundry bin in there and that’s where we keep ours. Everyone in the family has to put their stuff in there otherwise it doesn’t get washed.

maxicheddar · 01/09/2020 09:14

We use cotton string bags, hung on the wardrobe doors.

I love them because you can see what is in there and nothing gets stinky at the bottom! And they don't take up floor space.

We are short of space, so I have tall Ikea Kallax shelving with baskets for separating dirty laundry out. The baskets are quite big. The shelving is in a cupboard so out of sight. I used to have a laundry basket on the landing but stuff got stuck at the bottom and it was a pain to sort each wash.

ExpectTheWorst · 01/09/2020 09:22

We have 4: 2 regular wicker baskets (one in my and DH's bedroom, one ds2's room), an under-the-cupboard box in the bathroom, and ds1 has one in his room. I gather all of them together once a week and sort into laundry baskets (dark, coloured, lights) and then down to the washing machine. I have tried many, many systems and this definitely works best for us!

KatySun · 01/09/2020 09:23

Plus when I am doing a whites wash, say, I just need to lift the basket out and take it downstairs. This system has made things much easier.

BiddyPop · 01/09/2020 09:28

Our wicker linen basket lives on the landing at the bottom of the stairs up to the attic. Dd also has a bin (literally, one of the mid-sized rectangular buckets for a “make your own arrangement” under sink bin system from Ikea ) which she keeps outside her door (attic bedroom) so that we don’t have to disturb her if we empty it at night. In fairness, she does usually put things into it and occasionally empties it herself to the main hamper.

Our 3rd hamper is a pop up job, in bright red, that used to live in DD’s room (abject failure as too big for the purpose there) - it lives downstairs just outside utility cupboard door and hidden from view as you walk into the room by the breakfast bar. This one gets filled with clean clothes (from line outside, clothes horse or tumble drier) once dry and we fold them all once a week - handy for anyone to be able to rummage midweek if they need something urgently when we’re busy and we fold together on Saturday evening with a movie on so it’s not too painful.

In my utility room

trickyex · 01/09/2020 09:36

I am about to order these for my DSs, so they can have their own laundry baskets in their rooms (hopefully so they will do their own washing...)
They look nice (discreet) and can be stacked.

MattBerrysHair · 01/09/2020 19:12

We have laundry bags on hooks on the bathroom wall, a bit like this:

No more rummaging around in a giant laundry basket separating everything whenever I need to do a wash. I just grab a bag and bung the contents in the machine.

Mines in a cupboard in the kitchen next to the washing machine. X

Truzza · 02/09/2020 17:30

I have two baskets tall and thin, and one is lights other darks.... if the kids don't put there laundry in them doesn't get washed 😃

Truzza · 02/09/2020 17:31

@dementedpixie

Have 2 of these. I then transfer dirty clothes into a smaller clothes basket to take to the washing machine
I have those too! They are on the spare room which is also the laundry room
Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 02/09/2020 17:32

In a small kitchen cupboard next to the washing machine.

Danniotley · 02/09/2020 17:35

My velvet dressing table stool is also a laundry bin.

FrogsLegs14 · 02/09/2020 17:43

JoanJosephJim: this is total laundry goals. I want to hear more. Do you tumble dry? Where does the dry stuff go before you put it away?

Sssloou · 02/09/2020 17:58

We all do our own laundry - so everyone has their own laundry bin. They also have their own towels and a set of bed linen an an allocated evening to do their own laundry each week. I have 4 kids this has worked well - although I do all whites. They have been doing this since they were 9. Everything goes in together on 30, pop in a tab, close the door push a button.

pinkyboots1 · 02/09/2020 18:32

We have a big basket on the landing next to the bathroom and everyone deposits their stuff into it. Then 3 times a week eldest child brings it down for me to wash ( it's on his jobs list) youngest helps sort it once it's dry 👍🏻

Tandoorimixedgrill · 02/09/2020 21:30

We have a laundry chute which goes from our bathroom to our utility cupboard.

HeronLanyon · 02/09/2020 21:38

A white square lidded stool/box in the bathroom.
Dry stuff only.
Wet towels - if enough are dirty then I wash a load straight away. Only wash towels with bedding as Hotter wash than other things.

In a laundry basket in the bathroom

motherofawhirlwind · 02/09/2020 22:18

We have these in various colours for each bedroom www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XSCJ5PH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_HTauFbE0S8X61 and then a small plastic tub in front of the 2 machines for tea towels and cloths. The bags have handles so easy to carry down on Saturdays and as I have 2 machines, I'm done with the normal stuff in 2 loads - darks, brights, whites and tumblable. Then I do bedding and towels in the week usually.
