Carpet cleaning - diy or pay for prof clean?

£115 FOR someone to come in for 3 hours and clean (2 bed terraced)... or I can hire a carpet cleaner fairly cheaply and DIY for about £25. Anyone got experience? I have inherited cream carpets and I'm not the most house proud fussy cleaner, but now just see little stains everywhere . Why on earth do people buy cream carpets?😢🤣

I’d pay to have carpets professionally cleaned, they will spot treat any stains before using the machine.
The machines are very heavy to get in & out of the car & take upstairs, the chemicals are expensive, & not usually included with hiring the machine.

I have hired a machine and they do quite a good job; but if you can afford it, a professional clean will have better results.

I hired a machine once
The cleaning fluid I needed cost twice as much as the hire. It was really bloody hard to do and I got fed up with constantly having to empty and refill the tank. My carpet ended up looking stripey and because it doesnt dry quick enough you end up with a dirtier carpet eventually.

Never again!!

I would get them professionally cleaned. They usually do a great job, my carpet in my front room looked good as new after they'd done it.
I've heard bad reports about the diy ones. It's back breaking and you might still not get the same result.

Buy a cleaner for £160. Do a deep, thorough clean then keep on top regularly with spot cleans, full carpet clean every 6 months.
