Bought student an electric airer now will they need a dehumidifier?

I didn’t do enough research before buying DC a reconditioned electric airer on eBay (Dry Soon). It arrives tomorrow.
Student’s room has an existing mold issue on the blinds.
Will they need a dehumidifier and what size? Room is 15m2. Presumably Gumtree is best place to get one?
All advice gratefully received.

Can they have a window open? If not then they will probably need a dehumidifier yes.

Yes, reasonable window on first floor so could potentially leave it open when out .

If bills are included in rent, they may also want to check they don’t have a “reasonable use” clause in their tenancy, in case the cost of running both those appliances bumps up the electric bill by too much.

I brought DD an electric airer from Lakeland for uni and although the running costs figure they quote seem low, it’s per day and it soon mounts up.

To be honest you just needed to buy a dehumidifier.

We had a heater airer - briefly. Were never happy with it. Bought a dehumidifier and never happier. Added bonus is the whole house smells fresh. Clothes dry much quicker than with a heated rack (which is pumping the moisture into the air)

Having an electric airer doesn't produce any more water vapour than just air drying clothes anyway. DC would require the window to be left open in any case.

Wish now that I’d researched dehumidifier options first. Was just so delighted to find reconditioned Electric airer on eBay from Lakeland eBay store at 40% cost of buying new.

There's a reason for that ...

We had a cover that went over our heated airer and I found that made quite a difference. Putting it near an open window also helped.

Rinsefirst · 21/08/2020 14:55

Yes DGRossetti I worked that out, too

However, it’s arrived and DC is going to leave window open. Guess all will be fine until the good weather changes. I can always get it sent here Grin

The Lakeland drier is brilliant and an open window will be fine.

I’ve never needed a dehumidifier when I’ve used my heater airier
