What are these??

I just found a handful of these under the bookcase we have in our kitchen/dining room. I thought they must be mouse droppings but then I squished one and it was like a white goopy liquid inside so I guess not?
Are these a sign of some horrible animal infestation? I can't for the life of me figure out what they might be?
We don't have any pets, DD is 14 months so makes quite a mess when eating but I can't think what food might go like this is left under a bookcase accidentally for a while? I'm pretty thorough about cleaning up after her so I'm really hoping I haven't attracted mice or something!

What are these??

Oh no, really? With the white goop inside? They are maybe grain of rice sized, a little smaller. And they are only in this one place, there are none in the kitchen or anywhere else that I can see.

Is it fly pupae?

SirVixofVixHall · 20/08/2020 12:02

They are pupae not mouse poo. So the goo inside is the developing creature. Not sure on what pupae though, could be a fly , or a beetle of some sort.
You don’t have mice OP. 🙂

Envy (not envy) I've never noticed a particularly large number of flies, (just a normal amount coming in through open doors in summer), and I've never seen any beetles or anything. Can I just clean these up and that should be the end of it?

I mean, they aren't a sign of some infestation I'll need to get sorted?

Yes you can just put them outside somewhere. All houses have insects living in them too, unless you have a lot of them appearing it isn’t an issue at all.
