Hi there, I was wondering if anyone had any good recommendations for steam mops? The choice is bewildering Hmm I have all LVT flooring downstairs and looking for a solution that is lightweight and easy for everyday use.

I’ve had loads and they are all much of muchness. They don’t last very long so I don’t think it’s worth spending a lot. My current model is a Shark and it’s been pretty good and is still going strong after a couple of years which is pretty good going in my experience.

Incidentally, I’m not mad keen on steam mops as floor cleaners. I use them once in a while to sanitise and remove any product buildup but I find they leave floors streaky and don’t always dissolve sticky patches/stains. For everyday (or more realistically every 3/4 day) use I much prefer a very basic emop like this. They are sold everywhere and are very inexpensive. Used with the green scrubby mop heads from Koh it is more efficient than any of the very expensive electric floor cleaners and gadgets I have bought over the years and very quick and easy to use.

I have a Shark steamer and although the steamer is good for cleaning cupboard doors etc, I have great difficulty wrestling the mop head onto the steamer.

The Velcro strips do not seem to meet easily and I have had to sew poppers on tabs in order to use it.

I have been searching online for some time and it appears a good floor steamer is impossible to find.

I recently bought a Dupray Neat steam cleaner. Specifically, the manufacturer does not recommend use on LVT or wooden floors, particularly laminate. I was disappointed as I have a lot of laminate floor, but now I use it mostly in the bathroom where it does a good job on the wall and floor tiles, cutting the effort and the use of detergent. It's brilliant for cleaning out the various plug holes in the house!

I have had Black & Decker, Vax, and Morphy Richards.
They are not sturdy. They do not last.
I wouldn't rebuy Vax or Morphy Richards - after sales service is dire. They broke too quickly.

The Black and Decker Mop heads with Velcro are useless. The velcro uses its grip far, far too soon so the mop heads need replacing in a very short time.
The lead is too short too - I have to use extension leads. Storage of lead and plug is woefully untidy. The actual cleaning is grand.

Do they test these products before putting them on the market I sometimes wonder!!!
I wouldn't rebuy because of the problems
mentioned above.

I'll buy a Shark steam mop next time.

I prefer a steam mop to swishing dirty water from a mop and bucket on my floors !!

I've owned a shark steam mop for nearly 2 years. I love it and have not used a usual mop since. I have light cream tiles that show every mark but it does clean them well. I like chemical free as I have a dog and young children and my floor is still clean and hygienic!

I used to work for a laminate flooring manufacturer. It's true: Do not use steam mops on laminate floors.

They are water resistant at best and the grooves between planks are especially susceptible to swelling. The guarantee does not cover steam mop use.

Thanks, I went for a shark steam mop in the end and first test couple of days ago it seems to be very easy to use so happy so far. Only time will tell how long it lasts for
