Has anyone given up on corded vacuums and just has a cordless?

Just that, really. We have a cordless vacuum already that is perfectly decent for a quick sweep of the kitchen after meals etc, but the suction is nowhere close to as strong as a corded so we still have to do a weekly "deep clean" with the corded. But the corded one is now coming to the end of its life and I'm wondering whether in the last few years the market has improved enough to be able to replace it with a cordless rather than another corded, without losing function. (Our house isn't suitable for a robot vac, before anyone suggests that as an alternative.) Has anyone done this, and which model would you recommend if so?

We have no carpets - wooden floors or tiles throughout, with just one rug in the sitting room - so I'd be in the market for one that's best for hard floors.

We only have cordless, but also have hard floors throughout.

Which one do you have - would you recommend it?

Only cordless here. We have cats, and carpets in the stairs and bedrooms. Wouldn’t get a corded vac again.
It’s a Dyson 10 if that helps

Ours is a Dyson V6 fluffy. Does what we need it to. Don't drop it though- tends to drop its contents everywhere!

Actually, we went the other way. Have had a cordless Dyson for quite some time, and decided to buy a corded cylinder vacuum to keep and use upstairs. The new corded one was so good I now use it 95% of the time, both upstairs and downstairs.

The cordless Dyson is okay for a quick swoosh around, but the battery isn’t up to doing deep cleaning or doing multiple rooms in a day. I do have a lot of carpets though.

We only have a cordless and we are managing perfectly well. It’s a dyson V10, and it’s home is the charger, so always fully charged when needed. Best thing we bought tbh, so easy to use and I find it as good as the corded one we had before. I manage the whole house with it (4 bed, carpets upstairs and wooden floor downstairs).

Interesting to see so much Dyson love! We had a Dyson corded once and the suction was amazing but it was so heavy I hated using it. But I guess that's less of a problem with a cordless. So maybe that's the best option.

Does anyone know how much of a difference there is between the different versions? I've just been googling and the price differences between the Dyson V6, 7, 8, 10 and 11 are huge!

I've just bought a dyson v7 animal. It's beautiful, I am not being dramatic when I say it's changed my life.

We have a mixture of hard floor and carpet and rugs (and two cats). I use it for everything, even using accessories to dust high up and over all the tech stuff (DS & DH big tech geeks and house is full of machinery).

It's so light, so quiet, so easy to empty, so easy to use and charge from its wall mount, so quick to grab and do the stairs, under units etc

I'll never go back to corded

We have the Vax one that is a hoover and mop 2 in 1. It's fantastic!

I have had the Shark cordless true pet liftaway for almost 2 years now.

It is brilliant! Certainly no need for an additional corded machine.

We've just got a Dyson V10 for a mostly carpeted house. Charge isn't really an issue as we don't tend to do the whole house at once. It is so handy and space saving too, we never really had anywhere sensible to keep the corded one and our layout meant a lot of plugging and unplugging to get to all the rooms.

We've just bought a dyson v11 absolute as we wanted all the tools. We do still have a corded but haven't used it since we got the dyson.
We've got 3 hairy pets and it's coping well.

I bought a Dyson V6 cordless a few years ago to go alongside our Dyson corded. Didn't want to spend more than £200 at the time, hence bought an older model. It's been really very useful for convenience and does a good job on hardwood floors/ tiles especially. We have a lot of crumbs/ glitter/ animal hair and a 5 minute vacuum twice a day makes such a huge difference! But I wouldn't get rid of corded for deeper clean once per week or so. I did try a V11 in a shop and it was amazing though so maybe you could if you bought that.

Also, tried a Shark cordless at a friend's house and thought it was better than V6
