Blood stain on duvet

WinnieRose1 · 02/08/2020 22:29

Just discovered two large blood stains on DD14 duvet and duvet cover. Just like any teenage girl she was embarrassed that she had an unfortunate leak however as she didn't say they completely dry!

We brought her an expensive allergy free duvet so I am very reluctant to just throw it away and frankly I can't afford to.

What to do??? I need a miracle please Grin

Just wash it.
Why would you even consider throwing it out?

dementedpixie · 02/08/2020 22:32

Soak or rinse in cold water first then wash in buo powder

dementedpixie · 02/08/2020 22:33

bio powder

GlamGiraffe · 02/08/2020 22:34

Can you take it to the laundrette and get a service wash? It should come out with bio washing powder? My toddler cut herself last week and got blood all over my duvet. I just soaked the bloody patches in cold water then squeezed them and left it to dry overnight. It will go for a full launderette session shortly.
Some need dry cleaning not washing though.

Pipandmum · 02/08/2020 22:36

There are specific products good for blood stains. If it's washable you may need to take it to a laundromat if it's too big for your machine.

SuddenArborealStop · 02/08/2020 22:36

How big and is she too embarrassed to involve herself in the solution... Your own spit works very well on your blood, actually maybe it's any spit I've only tried my own..
Otherwise cold water not hot and bio powder a must.

Lovelydovey · 02/08/2020 22:37

Wash it? And then not the end of the world if the duvet is stained as it will be covered.

Longdistance · 02/08/2020 22:39

Pop it to the laundrette with vanish. It should do the trick.

WinnieRose1 · 02/08/2020 22:41

Thanks everyone for you responses

I guess in the morning I be spitting all over my DD duvet or taking it to the laundrette!

Soak bloody part in cold water with bio powder/biotex/Napisan/Vanish but as long as water is cold to avoid setting stain

dementedpixie · 02/08/2020 22:42

Don't spit! Use cold water ar salted cold water before washing it

Rumtopf · 02/08/2020 22:43

Cold rinse then wash with bio powder.

The dettol surface cleaner with no bleach or scent gets blood out. I don't know why but it does.

apapuchi · 02/08/2020 22:47

Lots of good advice for spot and general cleaning above. When you've done that and faded it, put in on the line with the sun shining (when it does) on the remaining spots. The sun has amazing bleaching properties and, although I haven't tried it on blood, have removed lots of other stubborn stains from whites this way. Hope you can get it out.

ouch321 · 02/08/2020 22:56

Does bleach actually remove the stain or turn it white so you can't see it though?

Anyway for that kind of stain first soak in cold water, then I'd use Vanish on it, spit and oddly milk. Leave it all to soak for a good while.

GreenPlum · 02/08/2020 23:08

Salt gets out blood stains. At least it does when it's fresh. Not sure about dry. DD learned about it in chemistry. I cut my foot really badly and there was a huge patch of blood on the carpet. She poured salt on to it and it disappeared like magic!

Firefretted · 03/08/2020 11:10

Salt works even on dry stains. Make a paste with cold water, apply, leave for a couple of hours then wash as normal
