Lakeland

I've got a few bits in an online Lakeland basket. They're one of those companies whose catalogue I can sit and peruse for a happy half hour with a cup of tea but rarely buy from.

Clearly I'm convinced they have a product that will fundamentally change my life if only I can identify it. Any loves/hates/recommendations?

Lakeland stuff I use regularly:

  • yogurt maker with sieve to make Greek yogurt.
  • the green veg box liners for the fridge
  • the heated airer (donated to daughter who lives in flat with no tumble drier)
  • bag clips - those hinged ones that seal open bags. Much better than the Ikea ones
  • ironing board cover - has sheep on. Really big and best bit for the big Brabantia board.
  • Tefal cheese box with a vent. Have used every day for years.

Heated airer.
Baking tins/trays
One-cup coffee maker you can set to come on just before you wake up (comes with a travel mug but you can use an ordinary one).
Moth spray and sealable moth-proof reusable clothes bags.

Their handheld mixer is a bit heavy, though. Would be better to get the stand version.

Cynderella · 29/07/2020 10:42

Also:

  • jar scraper spatulas
  • potato storage sack
  • stainless straight peeler - better than cheaper versions
  • white dusters

Another vote for the heated airer - literally life-changing! No more wet clothes on the radiator and perfect if you don't have room for (or oppose for environmental reasons) a tumble-dryer!

little0miss0mac · 29/07/2020 21:24

I think that's it - the potato sack! The answer to my veg box rotation problems.

I've had my eye on a heated dryer for some time. Maybe this year, maybe this year...

This: it replaces the wet mop....www.lakeland.co.uk/46140/AirCraft-Powerglide-Cordless-Hard-Floor-Cleaner-and-Polisher-PGLIDEWHT

More mundanely: microfibre tea-towels, oven gloves and the non-stick blue bakeware:

EVERYTHING!

I’m sure DH physically shakes when he sees me flicking through the catalogue...

Baking Parchment Liners
Caddy Stack Storage Caddies organise my kitchen & bathroom cupboards
OXO POP food storage
Sonic scrubber

So.....much.......stuff.......

I have been looking at that power glide mop thing. Does it work well? I have to be careful as I have bought so many steam mops, speed mops, so spray mops etc that my DH is losing patience.

I am looking at the Lakeland one and a VAx one that I have seen advertised but at £200 ish I need to be sure

I love the Lakeland catalogues. Always something in there that I just need!

FedUpWithBriiiiick · 31/07/2020 09:43

Great thread thanks! Is the pasta machine any good? I've got back pay itching to be spent 😂

Daisypod · 31/07/2020 09:56

With several people in our house having long hair the drain weasel is a must! Absolutely brilliant for getting hair out of bath plug holes

I got it because my neighbour recommended it! We have several tiled floors downstairs and using this is much easier than wipes or a mop, as it does the work for you, it floats away and you just have to control it rather than power it. It makes it less physically exhausting for me. It's similar to hoovering with a cordless except requires less effort than that. Obviously hoover first, then use the power glide. Can be used with just water. Shouldn't affect tile grout like a steamer could. Apparently you can get a robot 'mop' like a robot hoover, so maybe I should have researched that first.

A cheap but oh so good buy has been the Lekue quick cook rice and quinoa cooker.

Silicone tray for giant ice cubes are perfect for slow-melting ice in G&T.

Also agree with the oxo pop storage containers.

Ooh is the rice cooker good?

I’ve got the omelette maker....

OhioOhioOhio · 31/07/2020 17:42

Can you leave the heated dryer on through the day and go out?

Saucery · 31/07/2020 17:43

If you’re me, yes. If you’re my DH, no.
OhioOhioOhio · 31/07/2020 17:46

Ha! Thanks pp. That's funny.

Saucery · 31/07/2020 17:47

I don’t see it as any different than leaving the slow cooker on. If you’ve no dodgy electrics etc.

Raera · 31/07/2020 17:51

The long tongs, I think they're made of bamboo. Fab for stir frying, but also pulling crumpets out of the toaster without burning my pinkies

OhioOhioOhio · 31/07/2020 20:50

Good point about the slow cooker.
