My 15 year old Zanussi is on the way out and am thinking of getting either own brand John Lewis one or Paragon Miele from there. Also saw LG steam technology one which said could be used for dry cleaning.
All are relatively expensive but want a machine that lasts.
Anyone got any experience of either.

Oh! I was going to suggest you use a hand master for your potatoes, just like every other bugger

Desiderata · 30/09/2007 09:31

Ha ha! And that should be hand masher...

bigwombat · 30/09/2007 09:36

Lol!! One that does dry cleaning sounds good, but it seems to me the more complicated they are, the more likely to go wrong! Personally, I would go for good quality but a simple machine.

Any way, now that I've finally caught up with you, I'd like to thank you very much for the book token. It was very kind of you.

On to washing machines! I've no experience of the Miele or the John Lewis .. but over the years, most people have raved about the Miele. If it's within your budget, I think you should go for it. It's not just about longevity, but also about the quality of the wash .. and I beieve that the Miele scores highly on both.

Tottie32 · 30/09/2007 09:38

well if your zanussi has lasted 15 years (WOW) i would go for another one of them i have had 2 and loved them both...

miele do rate well though if you can afford one

bran · 30/09/2007 09:39

I recommend Bosch as well if you can't stretch to Miele prices.

NannyL · 30/09/2007 09:54

Miele are well know for lasting ages and being relaible

they also garantee to keep parts avaliable for 20 years, so they obviously expect them and build them to last!

I LOVE miele machines (have used laods at my variouse places of work!)

also dont forget when a machine last much longer the environmental impact of the machine is much better than one that need replacing every few years, so its better for the environment as well

RainingCatsandDogs · 30/09/2007 10:13

Think I will get a Miele.I can just about justify the cost if it lasts 15 years like my last one (with no repairs along the way...) and this is good for the environment too!

Thankyou!

Hi I have just bought a miele and think it is great. They have a 10 year guarantee at the moment as well. Try

here for advice

and

the miele site

It is worth shopping around though as prices do vary quite considerably.

Happy washing

i would recomend the meile washing machine.I have had no problems with mine, i got a free ten year guarentee and meile guarantee that all parts will be available for at least 20 years!!
Mine washes very well ,has a large drum , is very quiet and is very efficiant energy wise.
Meille washers do have a hefty price tag though.............

flowerybeanbag · 30/09/2007 20:50

I have a new Miele, I am in luuuuurrrrrrvvve with it, it's revolutionised my life. Highly highly recommend.

shinners07 · 01/10/2007 10:28

I've had a Zanussi for 12 years - it has survived 2 house moves and a country move! With 3 kids under 8 it is going non stop-stick with Zanussi!!!

snowleopard · 01/10/2007 10:35

Having a crapola Hotpoint washer-dryer that has gone wrong 5 times, and now won't do the drying (I'm putting up with that but only on the basis of it being green!) - I would definitely get an expensive one with a long guarantee - that's what I'm hoping to do next time.

traceukw1 · 01/10/2007 17:51

Yep Miele's are the best at the moment but there is a new machine about to hit the market in the next couple of weeks called ISE10, which is bascially built by the Swedish company Asko. Already people have been pre-ordering this months in advance.

You can read about it here
