What's this on my clean washing? Pic included

I recently thoroughly cleaned my washing machine as I saw little tiny spots, like in the attached pic (but fewer) on clean washing.

On checking the machine, I found some mould in the rubber seal folds so I used vinegar and bicarbonate of soda , scrubbed the seal, the barrel and the detergent drawer, ran it on its longest hottest setting (90 degrees for over 2 hours), then wiped it all down and left it open to dry.

Today, I have just done a white wash and my washing is COVERED in these little clumps of mould (???), much worse than before I cleaned it.

I assume I've loosened some yukky stuff but how do I get rid of it?

I'd put it on a really hot cycle without any washing in. That should rinse everything away.

Bluemoooon · 14/07/2020 16:46

Could it be in the detergent tray or rinse tray, have you washed it and cleaned in there?

AdaColeman · 14/07/2020 16:46

Ask on the Housekeeping Board, someone there is sure to know what to do.

GracieLane · 14/07/2020 16:55

Do you use powder or liquid? And do you use softener?

Might it be limescale that has come off the machine? I get that sometimes. Washes out once I've cleaned the machine.

Sorry, it said it hadn't posted! Confused

Thanks all. I will try the housekeeping board but to answer your questions:

I’ve put it on a hot cycle again incase all my scrubbing has loosened off some muck.

It’s not the tray - I scrubbed that too; it’s now spotless.

I use liquid and softener.

I live in a really soft water area - we don’t get limescale.

I’m freaking out! It just seems so DIRTY!! 😂

Liquid is more likely to cause a mouldy machine as it doesn't contain bleaches like powder does

StreetHaunting · 14/07/2020 21:04

Have you checked the seal round the door that can harbour a lot of mould

VeganCow · 14/07/2020 21:06

I would put a couple teaspoons of thick bleach in the drum and run the hottest wash again

glasshalfsomething · 14/07/2020 21:10

I had this. I think it’s due to liquid build up.
I done the hottest wash setting with a jug of vinegar in the drum. That seems to clear lost if it and after a few washes never saw it again. I think ours was ‘disrupted’ by moving the washing machine when we moved house.

Erictheavocado · 14/07/2020 21:29

Soda crystals. They cost about £1 for a large bag in most supermarkets. Put athird to half a bag of crystals in the drum and wash on hottest cycle. They are excellent at removing gunk and smells in washing machines. If you use washing liquid , that can cause mould and smells ti build up as it doesn't rinse away like powders do. We had problems like this and the engineer recommended to use powder in at least 50% of washes. I've never had the same problem since.

GracieLane · 15/07/2020 11:42

I would put it on a hot wash with powder and it should clear it out. It will be liquid and softener residue that has collected mould and dirt, but powder clears it all out. I prefer liquid and softener but always do every 4th wash or so with powder (I usually wash the white towels on a hot wash with powder)
