How to clean fridge and oven

Hi. I had my last 2 for 10 years. Is that average? I rubbed all of the dials off on my oven and my fridge went rusty. Both are now broken I didn't just get rid because of what they looked like.

Any way please can you tell me the best product to clean all 3. I can't ruin these.

I've just been using water on the outside of the fridge. My husband said white vinegar is better.

Thank you

What are you using to clean them?
My fridge and oven are rusty but they are well over 10 years old.

I'd use washing up liquid in water applied with a cloth to clean, then a clean damp cloth.

10 years doesn’t sound very long to me.

We recently replaced our cooker after 12 years but the original one was never very good, it came with our new build house and had bits falling off it from day 1. We still have the original integrated fridge and freezer so they are over 13 years old and apart from two cracked plastic freezer drawers they are as good as new.

I think markings coming off cookers is normal wear and tear. They only painted on normally so regular cleaning will eventually wear them out. Some super expensive makes have enamelled or engraved markings which would be permanent. I always use an oven thermometer anyway because the dials are never accurate.

If your fridge rusted I would guess you must have been using something abrasive on it. I always use ecloths for cleaning. They are effective but gentle. I have loads of them. They get washed at 40 degrees and I get through a couple a day. I used to use them with diluted Flash but recently I switched to Koh, an eco friendly brand. It’s pricey but pleasant to use and very efficient. I also add a splash of Zoflora because it smells so nice.

I occasionally use vinegar to get rid of water marks around the sink but I don’t think it’s that great as a regular cleaner. It is an acid after all. I also find it can sometimes leave a residue.

Good luck with your new appliances.

I just use multi surface spray on mine. If your worried about rubbing off the numbers just put clear nail varnish over them.
For my oven I use multi surface spray but once a month do a deep clean of trays with oven mate, then rinse them off, then put them in the dishwasher. My cooker is 6 years old and like new.
