Could do with some advice if anyone has any. I'm thinking of starting a nappy laundry service in my local area of Swansea as there doesn't seem to be one in existence but I'm not sure if it'll work or even if it's a viable option. Any advice or sage words of wisdom welcome as I can't get this idea out of my head!!!!

Swansea has a strategic recycling scheme (SRS), and it would probably be worth contacting them. I know that the Pembrokeshire SRS is currently putting together a joint funding bid with Carmarthenshire and Swansea, and one of the ideas that is mooted as part of the project is a laundry service. Pembrokeshire Real Nappy Network has just commissioned a survey, one of the questions of which was is there a potential market for a nappy laundry service. I don't know if the Swansea part of the funding bid are doing the same or if the same questionnaire is going out in all 3 areas. Also, as I missed the last meeting (puncture en route ) and haven't had the minutes yet, I don't know if the nappy laundry service would just be in Haverfordwest or if there are proposals for laundry services in Carmarthen and/or Swansea. So it might be worth finding out what the Swansea end of the project is up to.

If you decide to go for it, then I would suggest you do some market research (or find out if you can have the results of the survey that the Real Nappy Network has done). then you need to do costings: premises, equipment, nappies, insurance, etc, and work out what you would have to charge to make it viable.

Here are links to what I think is Swansea SRS and Pembrokeshire SRS
