Keeping on top of everything with children

I have recently become a parent of 2 and somehow the 'house stuff' has grown exponentially. I feel like I'm always chasing my tail to get stuff done. Most of it ends up being when toddler has gone to bed and baby has stopped cluster feeding, before I flop into bed.

I'm just about keeping on top of the washing, but the housework has barely been touched since baby was born a few weeks ago.

Please tell me your hacks, routines and habits for keeping on top of your chores with children. When it was just the one, I felt on top of stuff eventually, but I'm back to square one now. Let alone when I'm back at work...

I do a few things. I try and follow The Organised Mum Method. I also try and get my toddler involved so I can get stuff done when she's awake (eg give her a duster when I'm dusting and get her to do the skirting boards/door) - guess this depends on personality of the toddler though! To try and keep on top of clutter I had a 'baby space' in each room . I didn't want to permanently be carrying bouncy chair or similar around so in the kitchen I kept a small folded blanket with a lamaze toy on top. Playmat in the lounge, and then bouncy chair and toy in her sisters room/playroom (were in a small bungalow so the room doubles up. Baby is now 8 months but still in with us).
But also in the early days be kind to yourself. Don't expect to have it perfect!! If you've run the hoover around and picked up some toys that's good going 😁

Honestly just lower your standards
Mine are so low I'm actually quite shocked/appalled at myself
But hey ho
One day my house will be spotless again ...

You can go all 'Organised Mum' method, or the 'all fed, nobody dead' scheme. You'll work it out eventually, but don't burn yourself out getting there.

you've just had a baby - give yourself a break :)
decluttering is one of the best ways to get a hold of things - can you get rid of a bag a day / week etc?
