Anyone?

I have recently bought the cordless one and really like it. It's very light and easy to use. Because it doesn't have a cord I'm far more likely to just get it out and vacuum for 20 minutes. I haven't had the corded one though and don't know whether it has more power. The cordless one is fine and there's something you can pull if you want extra suction. I'd definitely buy it again. And my hair's all over the place but it doesn't get stuck, the way it used to with a Dyson.

Lavenderpurple · 01/06/2020 12:04

We’ve got the shark lift away. We decided not to go for the anti hair wrap. Just couldn’t justify the extra cost. Really happy with it though and I’m glad we got it.

Imtoooldforallthis · 01/06/2020 12:31

Thanks all, I have a Henry which is great, I have a Dyson cordless which is rubbish. Saw the anti wrap shark and thought it looked great. Somehow managed to order the corded one. Now wondering if I should try to change it cod the cordless.

I've got the corded Shark liftaway anti hair wrap one, my cleaner I like it and find it much more powerful than the previous Dyson. I've not tried the cordless so can't say about that sorry.

3catsandcounting · 02/06/2020 09:30

I've just bought the cordless lift away (not anti hair wrap as Lavender said, couldn't justify extra £s) I love it! So much better than my heavy old Dyson, and I'm much more inclined to whip it out quickly and move from room to room with it.

mommybear1 · 02/06/2020 12:34

I'm really tempted by these but I'm also undecided between corded and cordless - how have you got on with yours @imtooldforallthis ? I have a Miele corded which is great for auction but on its last legs and a cordless Bosch which I love but isn't nearly as powerful as the Miele.

Imtoooldforallthis · 02/06/2020 19:09

I've gone for the cordless but haven't received it yet, I'll let you know when I get it, I paid £179 direct from shark and went through quidco and got £11.20 cashback. Just sold my old DC35 dyson on Facebook for £65.

Thought I'd give an uodate, previously had a miele cylinder which I loved, a Henry which is really good, not may parts to go wrong or block up. Had a Dyson DC35 which was useless. So I went for the cordless shark, fell for the anti hair wrap advertising. So first thing is it's quite heavy, I guess I was expecting it to be similar weight to the dyson, but I think it must have a bigger battery. It looks well designed, I would have liked it if it stood up on its own, as I have to lean it on something. Suction good on carpets and OK on hard floors, it still leaves bits. Overall it OK and I will keep it but I wouldn't say its fantastic.

It's a shame I didn't see this before.

I know someone with a shark cordless and they tested my Dyson V10 and said they wished they'd tried mine before buying the Shark, she would've bought the Dyson.

Imtoooldforallthis · 06/06/2020 12:50

I guess I was swayed by all the 5* reviews. I will wait and see if the anti hair wrap thing works as I was always getting the scissors to the dyson.

I have an older Cordless Shark and recently bought a new Anti-Hair Wrap Cordless Shark, so effectively a newer model of the same hoover.

I really rate the anti-hair wrap feature. It is my only real bugbear with the older Shark that I frequently had to spend 30 mins cutting hair out of the floor head rotor piece. Having had the new one for a few weeks now, I can report that I have had not had to do this once and indeed the head piece does not get wrapped in hair and long fibres.

I really like that the hoovers are cordless, makes it a quick everyday tasks to whisk around with the hoover. Definitely worth getting two batteries though so one is charging as you use the other. I often have to switch batteries part way through cleaning.

One last point - for those moving from old Shark to new anti-hair wrap, the batteries are completely different sizes and shapes so there is no chance to use the old ones in the new model.

roses2 · 06/06/2020 13:05

Cordless will never be as powerful as corded due to being powered via battery instead of mains. Cordless in general tend to be good for inbetween cleans. For a thorough clean nothing yet beats a corded vacuum.

3catsandcounting · 07/06/2020 19:26

I don't understand this; my MiL has bought a Shark cordless and says it won't stand up on its own, but I don't have that problem at all. I love mine. It's so light compared to my old Dyson. Such differing reviews!
My only thought about the 'not standing up' theory is that some of the models have the dust cylinder at the top of the stick handle (mine doesn't)

ChequerBoard · 07/06/2020 20:06

The older model cordless (not the anti hair wrap) has the dustbin at the top and au agree it won't stand up unaided. If I need to leave it stood up I have to rest it against the wall.

The new anti hair wrap one that I have stands steady unaided.

mommybear1 · 07/06/2020 20:45

@chequersboard would you recommend the cordless? I'm torn

mommybear1 · 07/06/2020 20:45

@chequerboard would you recommend the cordless? I'm torn

ChequerBoard · 07/06/2020 20:49

@mommybear1 I think it depends on how you want to use it. I love my cordless Sharks because I use them everyday, often a couple of times a day to quickly zap round and keep on top of the floors.

If you want a heavy duty upright or cylinder hoover for a deep clean the. I'd go for a Miele or a Sebo but if you want a daily cordless vac then I'd definitely recommend the cordless Shark.

3catsandcounting · 07/06/2020 22:15

This is what's confusing me; MiL bought a cordless on the back of me recommending mine. We don't live nearby so haven't seen hers, but assumed it was lime mine.
I definitely recommend my model

Shark anti hair wrap, cordless or corded.
3catsandcounting · 07/06/2020 22:16

like mine - not lime!

mommybear1 · 07/06/2020 22:26

Thanks @ChequerBoard I have a toddler so use a Bosch Althlet cordless at the moment - like you I whip round a couple of times a day it's ok (ish) on the hard floors but it's not picking up bits in the carpet anymore. It's lovely and lightweight but I really need something that will get the
bits up on carpets. I'm happy to do a deep clean once a week with a corded hoover but I don't want to feel I am wasting my time daily with a cordless so definitely need one with a good suction.
