Can mice get into swing top bin?

I heard a rustling noise coming from the utility room the other night...I have two swing top bins, also had a full bag of recycling in a sack on the floor ready for the rubbish collection in the morning.

I looked through the recycling and there was nothing in there, I am now now paranoid that a mouse was in the bin.
Do you think they would get and , if so, could they get out again?

I think they can get in and out of almost anywhere tbh.

Yes they can climb very high sorry Grin. We put cinnamon down on the floor where we think ours were coming from, they haven't returned. We know one of our cats brings them in.

From experience, yes. We once found one that had been partially decapitated by the swing lid which had managed to act as a giant mouse trap (unintentional). Put down some traps and you'll soon know.

Thanks all.
I decided not to take any chances and ordered two bins with proper lids, I haven’t heard about the cinnamon before so will also that a try.

The humane traps work well.
