For StealthNinjaMum

We’re still here.

After 11 threads my house still isn't tidy!

So join me and a lovely group of mumsnetters who simply get rid of one thing a day and report back. Gradually we’re developing good habits, reorganising ourselves, often improving our mental health and having friendly chatter along the way.

So newbies are welcome, just check in with your news and join in the general chat about recycling, organisation and housework.

Previous thread here.

ALSO many of us have set a target to get rid of 2020 items this year and will report on that.

I managed to finish the dinning room yesterday. A few colouring and sticker books in to the donate pile. DH has also agreed to get rid of the track master bits so once DS is back at school will get that photoed and up selling

There were a few boxes of stuff that went upstairs to be sorted that will be next weeks job as need the spare room cleared ready for starting back at work.

Thanks to MsAwesome and Stealth for the cleaning trials solidarity, it was much appreciated.

Dd2 (12 months) has learned to climb on one of the living room chairs, which Dh is now predictably panicking about and wants that chair moved. The only place it could feasibly go is my box room, except there's no space because I haven't finished sorting it yet. The whole house feels like a giant slide puzzel sometimes...

A few to-dos off my to-do list. More money spending but hopefully we’ve now got everything uniform wise for school.

Sorted through the old uniform bits so a few holey things out.

MsAwesomeDragon · 23/08/2020 18:38

I went through the last toyboxes today. They did indeed contain just craft stuff and stationery. So I went through all the pens and got rid of the ones that don't work, sorted pencils, sharpened them all, and binned the ones that break as you sharpen. A few craft kits have gone in the charity box too. And all the Lego has been boxed up to take into school.

Wildernesstips · 23/08/2020 18:51

2 magazines read and recycled
2 recipe clippings destroyed (one binned, one written in recipe book)
Mirror and 3 hoodies listed for sale
Soap dish binned
Football studs binned

Also sorted through seed box and shoe polish box. Small wins.

DH has started working through his DP’s coin collection which is now in the stage of more mess than we began with 🙄.

Coooeeee!

I'm still here @JigoloHarMegiddo

Trying to think of an interesting thread title. But I think I will probably go for something dull 'like still throwing an item away: part 13'

StealthNinjaMum · 23/08/2020 20:36

vinorosso74 that’s really tough. My stbexh was a bit like that. It will -hopefully get better. A lot of my problems were us suddenly setting up a home, with no idea how to do it really, combining two of everything (we had lived in separate houses so had two irons, two tables, three settees, two ironing boards) and then hit with children. I had no idea how to organise things. Once I got organised – things like a very well organised stationery cupboard, shoe cupboard, books etc, stbexh and dc got better at putting things away and that’s part of the battle.

glumygloomer we all relate to the giant slide puzzle description, a very wise mumsnetter on this thread called it tidying tetris.

Anyway I have started a new thread. It is here

Oooh wow I'm going to try this. Having a huge clear out and have no where to take the stuff I'm clearing out until i can get a ride to a charity shop but I'll see what I can throw out today. Also, why does a clear out also make us so slow??
