Toilet seat / rim cleaning...

I've been using wipes to clean my toilet for years and feel very guilty about it, but find it hard to think about using a sponge or cloth to do this job instead. Where does the sponge live in between cleans? I don't like the thought of having a toilet sponge hanging about in the bathroom. Or is there a cleaning method that I'm completely missing?

I spray then clean with loo roll and flush away. I’m sure it’s not the best way but no cloths to deal with.

Serenschintte · 26/04/2020 08:59

I use microfiber cloths and then wash them at 95 degrees. If you wanted you could soak them in bleach before putting them in the washing Maschine.
Your average kitchen is dirtier than a toilet anyway. So I hear

Northernsoullover · 26/04/2020 08:59

I use loo roll too. I clean professionally and would not cope with ten bog cloths on a daily basis.

Wannabegreenfingers · 26/04/2020 09:01

Microfibre cloth, gets washed at 60 after use.

PawPatrolMakesMeDrink · 26/04/2020 09:02

Loo roll here.

IAmLegendaryExtra · 26/04/2020 09:02

Spray with bleach wipe off with loo roll and Rinse a gain with water then wipe with roll and flush. I do it often enough that the toilet 🚽 is never really that dirty in the first place,

ExpletiveDelighted · 26/04/2020 09:06

Loo roll and spray here too. If the limescale builds up a bit in the rim I wait till I'm chucking out a kitchen sponge and give it a good scrub with that before binning it.

userxx · 26/04/2020 09:08

Disinfectant and loo roll.

woodencoffeetable · 26/04/2020 09:08

we use kitchen cloths or rags.
they go in the wash after use. together with other cleaning stuff like mop heads.

EarringsandLipstick · 26/04/2020 09:09

Just use a cloth & wash after. I don't worry about washing at 95 deg or anything. Usually 60 deg.

But it's not dirty really - I do it every few days. Also, re rim, do you mean inside the toilet? I also use a toilet brush (MN horror! I know 😀)

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 26/04/2020 09:55

Cloth here. 60 degree wash afterwards.

NC4Now · 26/04/2020 09:56

Bleach and loo roll here

IHaveAnOutie · 26/04/2020 10:56

Thank you, I can't believe I never thought of just using loo roll! I think I'll go with that option because the thought of doing a hot wash just for the loo cloth, makes me feel guilty too and I wouldn't want to put it in with the bed sheets. Thanks everyone.

Same. I use anti bac wipes for the loo. Rest of bathroom done with Flash spray and sponge.

HotCrossBungle · 26/04/2020 11:06

Loo roll!

mumwon · 26/04/2020 11:12

loo roll & whatever cleaning stuff is available - changing it is good as it prevents the bugs getting immune (like changing nit treatment etc)

Houseyhousey · 26/04/2020 11:19

I clean my downstairs sink and then toilet (& floor around as I have 3 boys ) daily with antibacterial spray and just use yesterday's hand towel - they get hot washed and it helps me remember to change them daily!

lboogy · 28/04/2020 22:49

There's plenty of dispensable wipes. You get them from Sainsbury's or Tesco. Saves you washing clothes and the environment if you have to wash at such high temperatures
