Washing mattress protectors (boring!)

Mine are waterproof and contain polypropylene. I think I have previously washed them at 60 degrees but now can’t remember. Labels say 40 degrees max.

I’d rather wash them at 60 degrees like the rest of the bedding. Does anyone else wash waterproof mattress protectors at 60 degrees?

Okay, I've stuck them on at 60..... will report back!

Err. Wont they melt? I do a sports/ synthetics wash with some dettol antibac laundry stuff. Then line dry.

Better watch bits dont melt. Use a laundry sanitiser instead of heat

Never heard of laundry sanitiser? Will look into it. All looks okay in drum as far as I can see, but who knows? 🤷‍♀️

Dettol makes one, lots of supermarkets have their own. I found an ariel one too

So, I said I'd report back..... the mattress protectors seem fine after their 60 degree wash. I tested one by pouring water on it, and it was still waterproof.

I guess it may ultimately shorten the life of them? 🤷‍♀️

I'm not sure a laundry sanitiser would kill dust mites? But then no-one in our house has allergies, so does it matter?!

I wash them on 60 then stick them on the line Smile
