No washing powder scoop!

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 05/04/2020 17:15

My usual laundry tablets haven't been in stock round here for weeks so I bought washing powder for the first time in years. But realised I have no scoop/dosing device! Any suggestions as to what I could use? We don't have any yoghurt cartons or spare measuring jugs.

Egg cup?

BeBraveAndBeKind · 05/04/2020 17:18

I use a small plastic storage pot. The sort of size you might use for lunchbox snacks.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 05/04/2020 17:18

A cup, glass, soup ladle, cut the bottom off a plastic bottle, empty food can. Measure out some in the measuring jug, pour it into the container and mark with a permanent marker, tape or scratch.

DartmoorChef · 05/04/2020 17:19

It really doesn't have to be measured that much. Just tip it from the box, or use a cup

RubaiyatOfAnyone · 05/04/2020 17:20

I use 2x tablespoons if that’s any help

Igmum · 05/04/2020 17:20

I use the scoops from Vanish stain remover

notangelinajolie · 05/04/2020 17:21

I use a mug.

lokoho · 05/04/2020 17:22

I just use a normal soup spoon. I have very soft water though.

Mrsjayy · 05/04/2020 17:23

I used to use a mug half a mug full is enough for your machine.

GuyFawkesDay · 05/04/2020 17:24

I use the vanish scoop too

sleepyhead · 05/04/2020 17:25

I use the same as Ruibiyat, about 2 tbsp. Also a soft water area.

insancerre · 05/04/2020 17:27

I’m currently using the egg cup from the poaching pan

NannyR · 05/04/2020 17:27

It will say on the box what weight or volume you need per wash - get any kind of container, plastic tub, old mug etc, measure out one dose and draw a line with a sharpie pen on the container so you know where to fill it to for each wash.

xyzandabc · 05/04/2020 17:27

It usually says dosage amounts in grams or mls on the packet. Measure it using weighing scales the 1st time you do it so you know what the right amount looks like.

After that, use anything, spoon, cup, mug, jug, just pour straight from the packet. You really don't need a special plastic scoop.

BikeRunSki · 05/04/2020 17:28

Baking measuring spoons/cup
Plastic kids beaker
Make a card one

Sereneren · 05/04/2020 17:30

I use a vanish scoop as well and put half a scoop of washing powder in

nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut · 05/04/2020 17:31

I just grab a handful and throw it in. Blush

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 05/04/2020 17:38

Just use a glass or mug

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 05/04/2020 17:41

Marvellous. Knew you lot would know. I have no idea what 110 ml of washing powder looks like but from the answers here it seems a lot of you use a lot less so that's good to know. Thanks!

The box will sometimes have details to order a free dosing scoop. That's how I got mine

ReturnofSaturn · 05/04/2020 17:43

Just use a cup or mug Confused

dementedpixie · 05/04/2020 17:43

www.ariel.co.uk/en-gb/how-to-wash/how-to-dose/measuring-scoop-for-powder theres a link on here to get a dosing device

dementedpixie · 05/04/2020 17:44

Sorry the link doesnt work as I just tried it

dementedpixie · 05/04/2020 17:46

www.persil.com/uk/dosing.html

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 05/04/2020 17:57

I don't really want to order a dosing device because i don't know if they'll still send them at the moment, and even if they do, it seems like it's not essential if I can cobble together something from what I already have.
