Fridge leaking. Any suggestions?

Keeps leaking from the sides towards the back. Like it's incontinent and keeps doing a little wee on the floor.

I've checked the drain thing inside and it's not overflowing.

I don't want to buy a new fridge.

Any suggestions?

This happened to my mums fridge. She had to buy a new one - sorry! How old is your fridge? Hers was old - guy came to have a look and told her it wasn't worth repairing.

Oh dear. That's not the response I was after!

It's not that old - only about 8 years.

Might have to get a Man round to look at it...

My fridge was 13 years old and doing this.

I wanted a new bigger fridge so was happy to get rid of it!!

My mates husband told me that the pipe at the back of the fridge was probably just blocked.

Might be worth looking there.

Is water gathering in the bottom of the fridge?

No there's no water in the bottom of the fridge. it's literally just at the same point either side, about four inches from the back.

I was wondering about blocked pipes but I'm just not sure where to start.

I had water collecting at the back and in the bottom of my fridge so that every time I pulled the salad drawer out there was a deluge of water.

This is what worked for us: We pulled the fridge out and unplugged it. DH then posted a bike brake cable (any long thin wire should do) into the drainage outlet in the fridge and threaded it through. The drainage tube runs down the back of the fridge and the water collects in a pan at the bottom. I was able to watch the wire come through the tube and push out loads of gunk (pretty disgusting) The tube is now unblocked and I have no more water leaking out!

It was very simple and saved us having to get a new fridge.

Thanks luby we'll try that. The inside of our fridge is dry though, it's leaking on the outside. But I'll try anything to be honest, thanks.

Turn the dial up a bit. If you have it on 2 it's too low. You need 4 or 5

I usually have it on 3 and it seems quite cold. If I turn it up to 4 or 5 I nearly freeze the food, especially at the back. But will try turning it up as well, to see if that stops it. And as I'm clearing up a couple of small puddles twice a day at the moment I should see results within a day i'd guess. Thanks.

Mine was leaking and I paid sby to come and shove a pipe cleaner down the drain at the back. Oops. Expensive way to learn how to maintain your fridge!
