What oven cleaner would you recommend?

What do you use to clean your oven after cooking something like a roast? I do have that really heavy duty spray from Mr Muscle that you leave on for a certain time, but am looking for more of an everyday product rather than an industrial type cleaner. Any recommendations?

I use Oven Mate for a deep clean, then this in between.

DettolsYourFriend · 13/03/2020 19:41

2nd for oven mate. It's great stuff.

Bouncingbomb · 13/03/2020 19:45

I don't use Oven Mate or Mr Muscle, they both exasperate my asthma.

I use this. Bought it after I was ashamed at the state of my one year old oven because I didn't want to use the above. I was one step away from bringing someone into do it.

Amazing results, I then bought silicone liners from amazon for about £6 and haven't cleaned it since.

Lakeland. Miles better than any big brand u can buy in a supermarket. U just paint it on and wipe it off.

PineappleDanish · 13/03/2020 19:51

Pink stuff. 89p in home bargains. Totally amazing stuff and doesn't smell chemically.

Nanna50 · 13/03/2020 20:02

I never clean my oven with cleaner I have Lakeland liners and wipe it I have it steam cleaned now and then.

PrayingandHoping · 13/03/2020 20:54

@Nanna50 how do U clean the doors, racks and the top?

I have the magic liners but they only work for the bottom

Nanna50 · 14/03/2020 07:16

I use the Lakeland double sided pads and washing up liquid from the sink same as for baking trays, tins etc while I clean up after cooking. A dish of hot water In the oven if I need to loosen any bits (same for microwave) Though I do have some method cleaner if the glass has stubborn marks.

I was once told that all cleaners spoil the cooker (probably in the days before better cleaners came along) and that has stuck with me.

However I have to admit I don’t use my oven every day and I rarely bake, cakes, pastries etc.

Not sure if I feel slovenly now Grin

The Astonish sponge one is incredible.

Easy to use, doesn't give off awful fumes and works really quickly.

atvh · 14/03/2020 10:12

The Astonish one looks great, thanks all. Sadly I have a big tube of Mr Muscle to use up first though and I hate it - it smells so chemically and is stressful to use because it’s so toxic.

Anything from Astonish. The popular oven cleaners scare me they are so caustic.

The grease lifter is dead easy _ spray on, wipe off. The paste cleaners are very easy to use for a more heavy duty clean.

The popular oven cleaners scare me they are so caustic.

Same here - they’re really not pleasant to use with all the terrifying warnings on the can. I’m going to use up my Mr Muscle as quickly as possible (partly because I don’t even know how to safely dispose of a full can of the stuff) and then buy some Astonish.

Astonish - but I haven't tried the Oven/Grill one just the standard.

Vinegar and Bicarb paste , I'd read so much about it , thought I'd try it . Pretty good results Grin

One of those metal scrubby knitted wire pads for the shelves .
