Sorry to gross you out.

Any magic stain remover for this? I use Ace bleach on blood but not sure if it works on earwax.

Also.. if DPs ears are leaking this much in the night, is that normal?! I think he needs a trip to the doctor.

I wouldn't go to the doctor over it. It's likely he has a build up. Tell him to buy some ear drops or shove in some oil to loosen it

Meant to add, earwax is supposed to come out. It's the east way of cleaning all the dirt etc that get into your ear.

themuminator · 06/03/2020 09:25

But wouldn't that mean more stains on my pillows?!

Do surgeries do earwax removal these days? I'm sure that's a thing.

Put a towel down!

carlyclock · 06/03/2020 09:26

It does come out. You have been making wax all your life. Of course it comes out.

themuminator · 06/03/2020 09:27

I guess I'm also worried it might mean he has an infection. But like you say, if there is a build up, then at least it's coming out.

Will look at oil flushing and other ways of cleaning... Without the dreaded cotton buds!

Do doctors not syringe ears any more?
I had earwax on a towel once, ex cleaned he’s ears out with the corner, I just washed it in a normal wash I think.

themuminator · 06/03/2020 09:55

@Lllot5 I thought that was a thing that they did? I'll ring em and find out.

Reporting back, Ace bleach seemed to react slightly with the stains, though not as much as blood.
So I've bunged in a 60 wash with bio detergent and half a cup of Ace.
Fingers crossed.

Most doctors do not do the syringing any more, The NHS is trying cut back on things like that. I think
Specsavers do it. Or just Google to find the nearest place that does it. Cost quite a bit though.

slipperywhensparticus · 06/03/2020 12:09

My youngest ears pours wax when his temp goes up it's like it melts it all away Wink

When I left mine it fell out in a tickling lump made me shudder and shake my head like a blasted dog

carlyclock · 06/03/2020 12:34

No, unless there is an underlying problem the majority of surgeries don't do basic ear syringing anymore. The advice is to use drops or oil to loosen it and it will come out, which it already is doing anyway.

themuminator · 06/03/2020 16:06

Ok so basically, the towel advice stands then!! I will be finding a grungy brown/orange colour pillowcase for dp and I'll have the nice side of the bed Grin
