Rinse aid for dishwasher ???

starbuckssuzie · 03/03/2020 15:31

Just treated myself to a dishwasher.

Is rinse aid a necessity or does it depend on what dishwasher tablets you use?

Currently using Finish powerball all in one Max. Does anybody use these tablets without rinse aid?

TIA

AFAIK all dishwashers need rinse aid and dishwasher salt.

I'm currently on my 3rd dishwasher over the years.
I've always used salt (hard water area) and the different is noticeable when it runs out.
I'd never used rinse aid until my 3rd dishwasher which came with a small bottle. The difference in water marks on plastics was noticeable when it ran out (although with it I don't think it is noticible better than my previous 2 dishwashers were without) and I have brought more and topped it up.

I use cheap all-in-one tablets, Lidl (which Which? rates as a top buy) or Aldi (a don't buy) and don't see any real difference.

Yes too rinse aid and salt.

mommybear1 · 03/03/2020 20:41

Yes regardless of what tablets you use you still need salt and rinse aid.

KittenVsBox · 03/03/2020 20:47

I can notice when the rinse aid runs out. I use salt because we're a fairly hard water area. But I do use the cheepest tablets I can find.

I'm in a soft water area, do I need to use salt?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 05/03/2020 15:44

Yes you do need it.

ElfrideSwancourt · 05/03/2020 15:46

Longdistance · 05/03/2020 15:49

I buy rinse aid and salt from Lidl.

userxx · 05/03/2020 16:00

I'll get some from Aldi next time I'm in there.

Snozzlemaid · 05/03/2020 16:03

You don't need to use salt or rinse aid in soft water areas.

Apolloanddaphne · 05/03/2020 16:10

I've never ever used rinse aid or salt. I live in Scotland and we have lovely water in our area.

userxx · 05/03/2020 16:18

I won't bother then :)

LazyFace · 05/03/2020 16:23
