My washer dryer takes ages - about 3 hours just to dry. Is this normal?

No, not normal. One hour for a big load, or my towels.

Washer dryers do take ages, I seem to remember.

My dryer takes between 60 - 90 minutes depending on what's in it.

MaccaPacca81 · 20/03/2020 10:51

My neighbours tumble dry all day every day from 8am to 10pm 7 days a week.

Working from home is not fun. I'm ready to kill.

Can you add a dry towel or some drying balls during the drying part?

Ninkanink · 20/03/2020 10:58

Washer/dryers often dry much better if you don’t use the mixed functions (wash + dry). Instead do a wash cycle first and then put it on the drying function once that’s done.

Also, have you got a rack? I only ever half dry, if at all, to get much of the moisture out, and then I hang it up to finish drying naturally.

About an hour for a normal load. Have you tried an extra spin in the washing machine?

MargotsLine · 22/03/2020 14:15

I have an 8kg washing machine with a 1400 spin (spin speed does make a difference as I found when I went from a 1200) and 9kg Beko condenser sensor tumble dryer.

Full load including jogging bottoms, t shirts, maybe a hoodie, takes about an hour.

Washer/dryers are never veyry good at the drying part. My Mum had one as does my sister. They hated them but had no room for a dryer.

60-90 minutes depending on the load but that’s a separate dryer. My Mums washer-dryer takes a lot longer

areallthenamesusedup · 11/04/2020 00:52

Entirely depends on what sort of machine you have.
Old style normal will be fast.
New style heat pump will take ages.....as
energy regulations changed a while back
I have a rubbish new Mielie which only rotates in one direction so its really slow. My old Mielie (15 years old) did stuff at a third of the time.

areallthenamesusedup · 11/04/2020 00:53

generally best to do small 2 or 3 small loads than one big one.....overall will be quicker

Mum2b2020 · 11/04/2020 00:55

I've just bought a samsung heat pump one and most settings say about 3 hours for a full load (9kg) but it has a dry sensor which shuts the machine off around an hour in. I love it.
