Recommend me a washing up liquid that doesn't cause blisters on my hands!

Nearly every one I've tried has irritated my hands so much that I get blisters. I've tried using rubber gloves, but I keep dropping stuff and can't grip with them. A dishwasher is out too, I've got nowhere to put it and really can't afford one.

I've tried Surecare, fairy liquid zero ( The clear one), method, Lidl and ALDI's own and Tesco's own kind to hands, but my hands still blister. We're running out of clean dishes!
( only joking, I've persevered with what I've got).

Any suggestions will be warmly received.

The Ecover one might be worth a try? I think its meant to be good for sensitive skin

Can you wash dishes with Castile soap? Maybe try Dr Bronner’s. You can use it as a shower gel and a shampoo so I imagine it’s gentle.

Carpathian2 · 27/02/2020 20:02

I've tried that too!
Thanks for replying though.

I have to use gloves as I have bad eczema. Just have to make sure gloves fit well

Carpathian2 · 27/02/2020 20:03

I haven't tried Dr Bonner. I'll google it, thanks.

What gloves have you tried? Might just have to find some that fit better

Guacamole · 27/02/2020 20:06

@Carpathian2 it’s Dr Bronner. You can get it on amazon, not cheap but the bottle is massive.

Crystal87 · 27/02/2020 20:09

I have this problem. I've found the sensitive Fairy in the pink bottle the least offensive.

Fannia · 27/02/2020 20:13

I'd stick to using gloves if your hands are that sensitive. You could reduce time in gloves by rinsing all your dishes as you use them in plain water using a dishbrush and leaving any pots to soak. Then you won't need to wear the gloves for so long.

Carpathian2 · 27/02/2020 20:22

I'll try another pair of gloves, I really hate them though!
Thanks for all your replies Thanks

I've seen this stuff called Gloves in a Bottle or something like that, I think it is a barrier cream. Could be worth a look?

HoHoHolly · 28/02/2020 07:38

Not what you asked but...

Buy several pairs of white cotton gloves. They're cheap on eBay, sold in bulk for silver service etc. Use them to line rubber gloves, changing and washing often. A genius tip I saw on another thread.

HoHoHolly · 28/02/2020 07:39

Makes wearing rubber gloves so much more bearable

TorkTorkBam · 28/02/2020 07:40

Can you delegate the washing up to another member of the household?

ThinkPinkStink · 28/02/2020 07:45

I have similarly sensitive hands and washing up gloves are the only solution that works for me.

I've found that Marigold brand are the best, supermarket own brands are much less grippy and more likely to fall off. I often buy Marigold bathroom gloves as they're longer, and grippier on the arm, so less likely to fall down.

MrsMoastyToasty · 28/02/2020 07:52

Have you tried using latex gloves?

MikeUniformMike · 28/02/2020 17:04

Try latex or vinyl gloves - £ shops or Savers sell them.

ElfrideSwancourt · 29/02/2020 14:46

I'm the same OP, and I can't wear rubber gloves as I have fine motor problems in my hands and can't feel anything with gloves on.

I use castile soap for washing dishes and it works really well. I buy it in 5l from amazon - its the same as the Dr Bronner stuff but much cheaper.
